Rhonda and Oliver stood by me with stunned looks on their faces. I thought about comforting them and saying she’s just upset. But that would be a lie, and they would know. Especially after the argument Oliver and I already had. At least Rhonda was trying to be helpful. Oliver hasn’t done anything but blame everyone else.
I went out the sliding door and followed her, leaving them in their own silence. They can deal with their feelings of inadequacy. That’s the natural consequence of not being there when family needs you.
