Argonathe paced in front of the stands of wolves, witches, and fae. All the colors became brighter, more vivid. The sound of his voice was like a songbird as he spoke to the audience. “We’re brought here today to settle a dispute. Who’s responsible for the death of Meredith Bennett? Did the wolves kill her, or was it the coven's negligence?” He flourished his hand out as he spoke, emphasizing every word. Argonathe mostly spoke to the fae, who seemed bored. But how could they be? Argonathe beamed like the sun, and his theatrics made me want to clap. But I tucked my hands underneath my butt so I wouldn’t interrupt him. “Now, in order for us to make an informed decision, we’ll start with the beginning of the story.” Argonathe motioned to me and nodded. “Begin with how the story started.”
