Chapter 150

1507 Words

Wind blew over lake Tahoe, making me shiver. We’d been standing on the sandy shore for what felt like hours. For a reason Ansel wouldn’t tell us, we were waiting here for the trial. Sand crunched underneath my boots as I shifted my weight, trying to find a way to shield myself from the bone-chilling wind. Rhett had his arm wrapped around me while he glared out at the lake. About ten other wolves were surrounding us, and most of them kept glancing at their watches. Ansel was at the front of the group, whistling an unfamiliar tune. When we’d asked why all the other wolves needed to be here, all he’d said was, “The witches get a coven, so I get a pack.” Unfortunately, his idea of a ‘pack’ was the neighboring Alphas, including Hannah. She looked to be as excited as I was that she was here.
