Jeff from Accounts was leopard-crawling towards him, grinning happily, as though he had waited a long time for a legitimate reason to elbow his way across the faded blue rosettes of the reception room carpet. Gary found himself grinning back, and it was only then that he realised how long it had been since he had grinned.
Snippets of conversation hummed around him like little birds on the wing, and Gary grinned through it all.
