The Setup

Selene's Pov.

I heard Heaven call me again. I couldn't answer till now. I waited for Kat to fall asleep, so Heaven could speak freely. Hello Heaven, I greeted her. She looks at me pissed off, as she should be. I already know why she is mad; I should have told you about Hell and I didn't. Heaven asked me one simple question. Why didn't you? She asked. I smiled and said I needed you to focus on the mission and had I told you, you would have been hunting him instead. Heaven growled because she knew it was the truth. She finally calmed down and told me of her plan but didn't have a way to get all the elders in one place. I told her to give me two days and I would make sure they show up at the diner. I kissed her head and vanished.

Kats Pov

I woke up the next morning feeling kind of exhausted. I keep seeing those eyes. Why I don't know, but Heaven looks like she got a good night's sleep. Heaven also has been acting like herself, but I don't want to pry. She said she had finally got ahold of Selene, and she said in 2 days from today the elders would meet at the diner. I got so excited I squealed and decided to see if Cass wanted to hang out. So, I texted her since it's our day off.

K: Hey Cass

C: Hey what's up?

K: Want to go for a hike? I’m in need of some fresh air.

C: Hell ya! I know just the spot.

K: Awesome sauce. See you in an hour!

C: Sounds good, meet me at the café, and we can get coffee to go first.

K: Okay bye.

I put my phone down to get ready. Black sports bra, black yoga leggings, and my long sleeve black and white plaid shirt tied around my waist. I head out to meet up with Cass.

Cass’s Pov.

I put my phone down and head over to my dad's office and asked him if I could go hiking with my friend Katrina from work? Yes, you can go, he says, and gets up and gives me a hug. He is working on pack matters. Being a pack elder he is always busy and never home. Katrina is so amazing and too bad she isn't a werewolf like the rest of us. My father returns to his office, and I head upstairs to my room to get ready. I decided on black short leggings, gray sports bra and a black sweater. And I head out to the diner, then to a place serene and quiet. The only other people that know about it are my cousin and his brothers and myself. I saw Katrina standing there waiting for me.

Kats Pov

I see Cass running towards me waving, we hug, and I hand her the coffee I got her. She thanked me and said she knows a great place we can hike to, but it's going to take a couple of hours on foot. Right now, I wish she knew about Heaven, but I want to wait till we are further from town to tell her. Heaven wants to talk to her wolf Lilith about it first. As we started our journey, I was so anxious about telling her, until Heaven came to me and told me we had to wait because her father was Elder Marcus. Now I have to keep my secret till after the mission. Heaven informed me that she had to alpha command Lilith to not say a word to Cass about us. I said OKAY thank you. Now we have to keep pretending to be human and endure this long walk. Cass talked about her life and how her mother died when she was born and how she was raised by her father, Marcus. I want to hear more about him.

We finally reached our destination and, oh my, was this place beautiful. Crystal clear water, green grass, wildflowers everywhere, and trees as tall as giants. My favorite thing was the lake. It was so peaceful and calm unlike my life for the past 5 years. Cass yelled my name while I was in deep thought. She was already swimming. So, I jumped in with her. We were swimming and talking for a bit when I smelt someone coming, but I had to pretend I didn't notice anything. I turned around when Cass squealed, only to see Lee and another gentleman coming from the trees. Cass got out and went to great them. I followed behind her. She hugged Lee and then walked over to the other guy and hugged him, then turned to me and said Katrina this my other cousin Koa. Said hi it's nice to meet you. He said likewise but the look on his face was more confusion than anything. Lee asks what we were doing, and Cass said since we had the day off and Katrina needed fresh air, I figured she would like this place. Oh, that's awesome, we were just taking a break from work. Our other brother is finishing up and then we have to head home. I headed over to my things to check the time and it's already 3pm, crap I’m going to miss dinner again. Just as I was about to turn around, I saw a shadow and jumped. I turned around to see Lee standing there. I smiled and Heaven started pacing back and forth in my mind, and then she blocked me. That's weird and becoming a habit.

Lees Pov.

Watching Cass and her friend Katrina from work walk up the trail, towards our spot. I’m curious as to why she is taking her there. I mind linked her and asked her what she was doing today? I'm hiking with Katrina. I mind link Koa to catch up to me, so we could follow the girls. With humans and now werewolves going missing, I want to be careful. When Koa got a look at Katrina, he couldn't stop talking about what he wanted to do to her, and it didn't sit well with me or Hell. I don't understand she isn't our mate, so why do we get this weird feeling Hell asked? I don't know, but it must be something tho. We watched as they hit the clearing and her face lit up with amazement. So beautiful. What the hell is wrong with me? Cass jumped in the lake and swam to the middle, then yelled for Katrina to follow her. Katrina looked at her, put her stuff down and jumped in. we watched them swim and talk about girl stuff and then Koa got bored, so we finally walked out of the shadows. Cass got excited and ran to hug us both, she was like a little sister we never had. Our uncle is an ass and one of the elders. He tries to control us, but we put our foot down. I was pulled from my thoughts when an angel-like voice said hi. I waved at her like an i***t. Koa was excited about meeting her. I hated the way he was looking at her. After she greeted Koa, she walked over to her phone, she checked the time and sighed. I decided to walk over and talk to her. I got a couple steps from her, and she jumped. I scared her? What the hell? Sorry she said I was deep in thought and didn't hear you coming. It's okay, I understand just thought you would want some company while Cass talks his ear off. She giggled and said that would be great. I asked her how she likes it here? She replied she was happy to find a quiet place to settle down, it's better than the fast pace of Las Vegas. I told her I was happy she liked it here. When, all of a sudden, Hell got defensive and said he could feel something coming. So, I stood up and placed Katrina behind me, while Koa did the same to Cass.
