Chapter 13- Saving my mate

Lees pov.

As Kat lays in a hospital bed, I'm in full guard mode. She is my mate. I don't know what to think. The doctor took her blood when we first got here to find out what they used. They were able to get the bullets out of her shoulder, so now its just a waiting game. The doc came in and told me it wasn't wolfs-bane but they used a powerful mixture that was created to take down our ancestors. It is full of larkspur, wisteria, and hydrangea. They do have the antidote for it but it will take time to enter her system. After they give her the medicine, I call Cass, Leiland, and Koa to the hospital. I tell them that I'm staying here till Kat is awake and that we have to split duties. Leiland agrees. I tell them Leiland is in charge of pack duties, Koa is to hunt for uncle Marcus, and I tell Cass she needs to stay with the girls and help through this ordeal. Cass says she is sorry for her father's behavior. We all tell her it's not her fault. I just feel bad if I had known none of these girls would have been hurt. Leiland and Koa nod and head out.

Cass stays behind to check on Kat, but also informs me that all the girls were cleared. I asked her if she knew about Kat having a wolf. She said no, she never told me. I wish she would have trusted me though. I told her she most likely did trust you just wasn't able to tell her. She nods and hugs me good night. I return to my mate after she leaves. As I sit in the chair, I hold her hand and occasionally rub her cheek, while I pray to the moon goddess to save her. I repeat this till I fall asleep.

Kat's pov.

Sitting in a void of darkness for what feels like forever, I feel lost. Its just me here, I cant even feel Heaven. It's the first time in five years I have been alone to think, and I don't like it. My hands feel like electricity is flowing through them and I occasionally feel it on my face. After sitting there with my arms wrapped around my knees, I started to see light in the distance. I decided to go see what it could be. As I'm walking towards it, I start hearing growls and voices. I started getting nervous, when all of a sudden I heard my name in the most angelic voice I have heard in a while. As I approached the entrance, I saw Selene standing there in a beautiful white ball gown trimmed in gold and silver. She was surrounded by dozens of wolves. As I knelt in front of her, I noticed white paws, so I looked up to see Heaven standing there with her.

Heaven looks so majestic and mesmerizing, with the silver and gold hue around her. Selene looks at me and says, Kat, we almost lost you and heaven. You were poisoned with a mixture that almost wiped out the very first werewolf. If it wasn't for Lee rushing everything, we all would have lost you. As she is talking, I feel the sparks again in my hands, so I ask her why I keep feeling this and she says it's because Lee is with us and he is our mate. WHAT!!!!! Are you serious? How am I supposed to complete my mission if I'm gonna turn into a-love-sick puppy? No offense. She laughed and said," my child, you will complete your mission just with him by your side unless you choose to reject him, but keep in mind you will hurt Heaven in the process. I nodded in understanding. Well, my child, I will leave you to rest. Heaven will be with you when you wake up. She kissed the top of my head and slowly walked away, leaving me with my thoughts.

Lees povor

Its been one week since Kat went into a coma. I have been a wreak, I cant sleep, eat, or think straight. I haven't left her side. Leiland has come twice a day to check on me but I won't leave. Koa is still looking for Marcus, and I'm worried he is going to try and take my mate again. I start prey to the moon goddess again and I start drifting off to sleep. Next thing I know, I'm standing in a field of wild flowers with a beautiful gown trimmed in gold and silver.

It's Selene. I bow instantly. She giggles and tells me to stand up and come sit with her. I looked at her and just blurted out, please tell me" Kat is going to be okay?" She smiles and says," Well first off, you need to be patient and trust the process. Secondly, after she wakes up and recovers, she will have to decide if she wants you by her side or not. If she chooses to fight on her own, you will have to let her. I don't like that at all, I am her mate. I'm there to protect, love, cherish, and treat her like the queen she is. I understand my child but this is her mission and mates weren't part of the plan. I understand Selene just promised me you wouldn't let her reject me and, Hell, I don't think we could handle it. She said she understands. One last thing, go take care of yourself if you don't want her waking up to you looking dead and smelly. I laugh and say your right. Don't hold her past against her she was under my orders okay. Well, goodbye my child as she kisses my forehead and leaves.

As soon as I wake up, I mind-link leiland and ask him if he can watch Kat while I shower and eat. He said give him a few minutes and he would be there. I look at her and told her to please wait till I got back to wake up. I turned just as Leiland opened the door and walked in. He still doesn't know why I'm here and I will tell him when I get back. As I'm leaving, Cass mind-links me and asks if her and the two girls she saved could come visit and I tell them yes and let her know I'm headed to shower and eat. She says good and cuts the link.

Leilands pov.

I have been acting alpha for a week now, and don't even know why. Lee must have a good reason for doing this. He mind-links me and asks me to sit with Kat while he eats and showers. I said ill head that way. When I arrive, I ask him to tell me what's going on and he said after he gets back he will explain everything when he gets back. I said okay and he turned to leave. Once he reached the door, he looked back at me and said if she wakes up please let him know immediately. I nodded in understanding. Just as I sat down, the door opened and in walked Cass. She smiles at me, walks over to Kat and tells her to hurry up and get better. I miss my best friend. She looks at me and says she brought two of the girls that we rescued to see her. After we talk they can visit. She says okay, what's up? Tomorrow, can you take four guards and go collect all of Kat's belongings and pay the couple extra money for their trouble? She said no problem. She gave me a hug and said she was going to get Ruby since we don't wanna do it as a group and possibly overwhelm Kat if she woke up. Cass returns with Ruby and she starts crying, telling Kat thank you for rescuing them and hurry up and get better. She hugs Cass and turns to me and says hi I'm Ruby. Hi Ruby, I'm Leiland. I'm the gamma here and if you need anything please let me know. Thank you, she says before she turns to leave. Cass said she would be right back with the sapphire. I'm sitting there looking at Kat when Cass walks in and says she will be in, in just a second. Just then, the door slowly opens and I instantly smell coconut and chocolate. It smells so amazing, then in walks the most beautiful woman I have ever laid eyes on. She looks at me and freezes. We both say in unison Mate.
