CHAPTER TWO Shit, Bill thought, I'm already half an hour late getting to Bestwick's. He wheeled the car out of Jan's neighborhood and headed for his next date, about two miles away. He found the apartment house after stopping at a gas station for directions. It was in an upper-class area, surrounded by large, private homes with broad lawns and shade trees. Before he got his finger off the bell the door swung open.
