Chapter 2 The Edge of Tomorrow Morning birds woke him a little before the sun opened its bright eye to stare at the earth below. Talon sat up and tried to see in the dark lodge. The light was just moving down from the smoke hole, and he could see faces still sleeping all around him. He looked at them for a long while. It was an image he wanted to keep always. These were men he loved as much as he loved the free wind and the horses. These were faces he might never see again in this life, and he knew they were faces of men who loved him.
