ANASTASIA “OMG”, I seriously can’t believe this arrogant jerk is actually my boss, like how am I supposed to work with someone like him? “Miss Lawson?” Yes sir? I asked you a question and I wouldn’t like to repeat myself for the second time. He has the effort to ask why I’m late for work, while acting like I didn’t tell him the reason why I’m late for work. “Anastasia? Calm your nerves down, just breathe in and out. You wouldn’t like being fired on your first day of work. I quickly snapped out of my thoughts and looked at him. “Ah”, yes sir, I know I was meant to check in early, but where I stay is far from work, which made my drive to work longer than I expected. “That’s enough!” “This man is too fine to be so angry, he might grow a lot of gray hair when he turns 40”. I really need to snap out of my thoughts before he gets me fired for thinking too long before replying. “So your file says that you were born and raised in Tennessee and also graduated from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor’s degree in industrial design?”, so far your file looks good. He looks up from my file and looks at me so intensely in the eyes, You’ll have to learn to work on your time management. If you live an hour away from work, you’ll have to leave home forty-five minutes before work starts, so you can get to work early. And also have my cup of coffee ready before I arrive at work at 8:00 or later 8:05. “And I don’t have any regular type of coffee. Ask Emily where I usually get my cup of coffee and how I like it. Put it on the company's card. Emily will also tell you how that works. “Your now dismissed” I smiled at him, stood up and walked out of his office to ask Emily about his so-called coffee. I hope it’s black like his soul. “Bad day already?” Well you can say that, like who employs people and then proceeds to be so rude to them?, don’t people know what transfer of aggression means? Babes don’t think too much about it. He's always been this grumpy. I’m sure he's tired of the blogs coming up with different narratives made up of lies about him, and he then goes ahead and pours down his anger on innocent us. “That shouldn't be an excuse for him to be rude, he shouldn’t mix business with whatever drama he has going on”. “Yeah girl, that’s actually right”, so what’s going on? “Oh, I almost forgot, Mr grumpy pants requested a cup of coffee and told me to ask you where his favorite coffee spot is, and also ask how he likes his coffee”. Daily Brew Café is just across the street, and he likes latte coffee with two pumps of syrup. “Okay, thanks”, I’ll be right back. ************* “What took you so long?” Sorry sir, there was a long line when I arrived at the café. “Why didn’t you tell them you worked for me?, the would have cut you in”. Drop it over there, and here, take this file and go through it, see if there’s anything that needs to be corrected. And get ready by 1:30 pm, we are going to the factory to check the new sample material. Okay sir, will that be all or do you need something else done? “Other than you leaving my office, I don’t need anything. I can call your office line since it’s linked to mine”. I picked up the file, put on a smiling face, left his office and headed to mine. “He is so rude, like it’s too early to be so angry at people, or whatever is bothering him”. Well that’s none of my business, I just have to get work done, so I can keep my job, because it looks like I’m already working on a thin line with him, and I can’t afford to get fired just yet. “Ahhh finally it’s lunchtime because I can’t feel my butt and I need to take a break. I can’t believe I’ve been working for 4 hours”. Well, at least we have 35 more minutes before we go to the factory, so I’ll just tag along with Anastasia for lunch. “Hi Anastasia, I thought I wouldn’t see you for lunch break”, thank goodness you came out, we can go have lunch together. So let’s go now because we only have a few minutes to go eat and come back in before lunch break ends. We headed into the elevator, so where are we going to get lunch? “At Wendy’s fast fried diner just opposite the Daily Brew Café”. We headed out of the building and walked into Wendy’s fast fried diner, placed our order and sat down. “So how long have you been working at Donovan’s Textile?” “For 3 years now, I actually started working here as an intern, and I was luckily selected to work here full-time after I was done with school”. “What about you? What's your story?” Well there’s nothing much to know about me, just a girl who left Tennessee to come to New York and chase her dreams after losing her family 2 years ago, so here I am. I actually couldn’t believe it when I got an email saying that I was going to be working here as a secretary. But the concerning part is that I’m working for a man who can treat his employees nicely. Well, I’m happy I got the job and I sure can’t complain. “Oh, girl, I’m so sorry about your parents. That must have been a tough time for you and you had to leave home all on your own”. Our order came in. Well, I’m happy I’m focusing on the good things in life, and I am not proud of myself, so it’s fine, I’m good. “That’s actually nice to hear, as long as you're doing good, nothing else matters”. Well, let’s eat before we run out of time. *********** We were done with lunch, so we quickly headed back to the building because we were already 5 minutes late. “I hope Mr Donovan hasn’t been calling my office line, because I wouldn’t want him to get mad at me for not picking up his call, I just hope he hasn’t called me”. “We reached the top floor and I quickly rushed to get my things ready before he called me again.” “Where have you been?!”
