As he skipped across a shallow pool of water, he saw that the ravine ahead began to channel around in a gentle arc to the right. Running all the way along the left hand edge of the river bed against the sheer wall face was a deep water pool with rushes growing through the shale and pebbles along the fringe. Checking his watch, he looked up at the sun and realized that he had found the place. Pausing for a moment, he scoured the bend of the canyon wall running above his head, the different colours of the rock jammed together highlighting seismic upheavals over thousands and thousands of years. It’s got to be around here somewhere, he muttered to himself and trained his eye on a ledge running the length of the rock wall twenty feet above them. Above it was another thirty feet of sheer rock
