“Put him through,” said Colonel Renauld irritably into the receiver.
Since the announcement had been made to the media, he had still not spoken to Cardinal Fiore who had now renamed himself to the world as Pope Leo XIV.
“Colonel?” said the voice at the other end.
“Goran, I was beginning to wonder if we had a problem.”
“We do have a problem, Colonel,” replied Goran, dryly getting straight to the point. It was late evening in England and he was also not in the mood for normal telephone pleasantries despite the fact that it was his commanding officer on the other end of the line.
“It would appear that the Satanica have moved much quicker than we thought they could!” he continued.
