His mood changed as he began to believe he could do it. Without wasting any more time, he crept back down the passageway and up the stairs towards his exit route to the roof. Checking the way was clear, he raced inside the washroom and climbed up the wooden frame and out through the skylight. As he rolled away behind the wall he felt relieved, and elated to be back in the sanctuary of his rooftop hideaway.
