Chapter. Seven I got to the bathroom to change. After changing, I checked myself in the mirror. The blue gown was stunning. I loved it. I had never worn something this expensive before. I stared at my reflection again, slowly turning from side to side, admiring the way the dress hugged my body perfectly. Then my eyes dropped to the birthmark on my chest. My smile faded instantly. “No…” I whispered softly. “I have to do something about this birthmark.” I quickly went back into the room that had been given to me and brought out my makeup bag. Sitting in front of the mirror again, I grabbed my concealer and carefully began covering the ugly birthmark. It was too distracting to me. Tonight, I wanted to look nice for him. I had gone the extra mile just to look beautiful today. “You’ll be hidden for a little while,” I muttered under my breath while blending the concealer carefully over my skin. “At least for as long as this lasts.” After making sure it was no longer visible, I adjusted the top of my gown and took one final look at myself before leaving the room. When I stepped outside, Damien was already waiting for me. But the moment I saw him, I realized he was completely lost in thought. Damien’s POV I saw her walking out of the room, and for a moment, my breath caught in my throat. The gown looked beautiful on her. No… beautiful was too simple. She looked incredible. My eyes instinctively moved to her chest. The birthmark was gone. I froze. So she wasn’t the lady that saved me. A strange disappointment settled heavily inside my chest before I could stop it. I kept staring at her, my thoughts spiraling uncontrollably. If she wasn’t the woman from that night… Then where was the real girl who pulled me out of that burning car? I was still lost in thought when she suddenly grabbed my hand gently. My mind snapped back immediately. “Oh… sorry,” I said quickly, forcing myself to recover. “I’m sure you look absolutely beautiful tonight. I just wish I could see it.” A small smile appeared on her lips. “Thank you,” she said softly. I nodded slowly, but my mind was no longer there. So she wasn’t the girl who saved my life… Then what exactly does she after? The thought refused to leave my head. And for the first time since bringing her into this house, I felt something dangerous creeping into my chest Doubt.
