Clara tried to come back to her senses and stopped admiring Justin. She liked him but hated him for being Olivia's lover, which depicts how he would soon take over from Beta Melvin in no distant time. It hurts her more when she remembers it was her father who was supposed to be enjoying that rank but was forcefully taken away by sudden, planned death.
Moreover, he was the basketball team leader, and history has always been that they chill with the big girls in school, so this proved to Clara that she was in no way ever going to win Justin's heart. She already weighed but found herself wanting in the classes of girls he could date. Her eyes were still glued to Justin's direction, but she became distracted by Olivia's voice echo.
"b***h, could you please gaze your bloody eyes off my buddy!" She echoed in magnitude. Clara got back to her senses and quickly made eye contact with Justin, and she looked away in disdain. Justin found her reaction so funny at the sound of Olivia's voice, but he tried to maintain decorum and looked away from her direction.
Anabel had been at the side observing everything that was going on. She was a very standard person who never compromised her principles. She was known for always standing and speaking the truth. Anabel was so energetic and rarely tolerated nonsense; her anger over Olivia's actions was already cooking, and she decided to intervene by attacking her back on my behalf.
"Olivia, you seem to have unhealthy energy for every show. Must you point out your hypocritical and mannerless behaviour again tonight? At least show some decency, even once in your lifetime." Anabel embarrassingly shouted at her.
"Wow. I never knew someone else was also a positive observer viewing your nonchalant behaviour this night, dear young lady." Clara said boldly to Olivia while clapping both hands together and laughing loudly.
"Go to hell bitches! How dare you both refer to me, the daughter of Beta Melvin, in such a disrespectful approach?" Olivia shouted, pushed Anabel aside, and splashed the remaining little red wine on the glass she was carrying at Clara.
Clara was still surprised at the sight of her stained gown, but thankfully, it was a black gown, so the stain was not well pronounced. Olivia rushed to her corner to attack her, but Anabel stood between them.
"How dare you bastard and coward insult me? Do I look like a fatherless being like you? When next you choose to talk to people, consider their background and class first because not everyone has an unlucky father who could not even save his life, let alone his wife. i***t! You should have joined your late parents rather than occupying space for us here." Olivia barked at her.
Clara was intensely touched and pained at the same time. She became highly emotional and tried to keep her tears from dripping from her eyes. One instinct in her told her to attack back rather than sit and cry because of a small girl like Olivia. The moment she wanted to shoot her back physically, they overheard the noises of other students who were hailing at the blow of the trumpets. This signifies that it was a few moments before the next day, which was a big day for her. The day she was meant to see her mate for the first time. She had promised herself to be in her best mood and behaviour that day, so she wanted nothing to distract or spoil her day at all.
Clara wished that Ariel was even with her at the scene at least to invent for her more because it stands now; she could not fight further. Despite the splashes of red wine, she could still feel spotted at different angles of her gown. She wanted to keep her promise of making that day worthwhile for her and appearing in the best mind for her mate. She was already looking around with excitement growing in her tummy as she could see other students also rejoicing because it was their last night of celebration for that session.
Clara was already feeling the joy that my mate was around the corner, but she couldn't fathom who he was or where he was. She heard a rush at my back that caught my attention sharply, and she turned her back only to see Justin pushing Olivia aside and rushing in my direction. She felt tense and confused simultaneously but decided to hold her sanity. Justin went straight to her and held her hands.
"Who are you, Clara?" he asked softly.
For over a minute, Justin was still in utter disbelief; he stood so weak, like someone who just encountered his worst nightmare. He stared so directly into Clara's eyeballs. Clara was immediately going pale and dreaded because, at that point, she could grab the details of everything happening.
Olivia, confused at the scene, quickly walked up to where they stood and gently held her shoulders off Justin with her left hand while trying to forcefully dismantle his jammed hands with Clara with her left hand.
"I don't understand this whole scenario; what the hell is happening here? Why are you both looking so fierce and scared?" she echoed in amazement.
Clara's heart skipped a beat a million times in a minute. She was so scared to speak up but finally decided to be bold enough and confront Olivia. She wanted to speak up but heard the voice of Justin, so she softened down at the moment.
"Olivia…" Justin muttered but had no courage to continue with his words. His voice was so coerced with fear and trembling that he could not proceed with what he wanted to say. Clara could feel the anxiety in his voice, so she decided to intercede, but she feared that Justin might not stand up for them when the truth was revealed. Clara could no longer withhold the pain of Olivia's hands against her and Justin.
"He belongs to me! He is my alpha mate. I have waited for him for a long time, and now he is with me. The truth may seem better to your hearing, but we all have to find a way and deal with it." Clara managed to say finally.
"You must be a thorough joker b***h! And listen, I won't take such words from you again. You better find a well-fitted car and a detailed map and drive to hell yourself because if I try to send you there by myself, you say not enjoy the scene." Olivia echoed dangerously to her with a new voice that depicts everything angry.
Clara was already in a sober and calm mood. "But this is true; I am not making up a delusional story here. I also love him a lot to withhold such a comforting truth from you, Olivia," she replied to her.
"Tell me this is all a makeup story, Justin. You belong to me, and only I alone. Listen, babe, I will not accept whatever this brat spills here. I love you from the depth of my heart and desire to spend the rest of my life with you. Please don't let this bastard spoil our whole plans for us." She turned to him and begged.
"I am truly sorry, Olivia. But this is the truth; she is right. The girl standing here is my mate, and I can't deny her." Justin courageously muttered and turned his back on her.
Clara could not explain her level of satisfaction and pleasure at that point. Even if Olivia was not truly happy at the break of that news and knew the dangers attached to such a proclamation, she still felt ecstatic that Justin could utter such words despite all odds. The warm feeling she had at that point made her give a sudden glimpse of a smile.
"Ridiculous!! This is impossible, Justin. Who gave you such impetus to utter those words, man!?" Olivia shouted in a sad voice. Clara felt deeply bad for her at that point, even though it had been her worst nightmare. She thought of how painful Olivia was feeling because not only was her prince charming about your leaving her, but she was also going to be taken over by the girl she despises to the end of it.
At that point, Clara realized these could be a mere dream. How could Justin, an alpha, be her mate, a man who should also become the new and most respected alpha? How will Olivia and her family cope with such news from them?
"You owe the key to my heart, Justin; my father has prepared all his properties and wealth in our name. We have dreams and aspirations together, Justin. Why would you want to throw all of these to the sea just because of a mere stranger of a girl?" Olivia said with tears dropping down her cheeks. Justin stared at her momentarily; his face dictated remorse and a sudden change of mind.
Clara noticed he might change his mind if he continued to stare at her, so she interrupted abruptly. "Excuse me, Justin, can we talk in private?" Justin's eyes quickly turned in her direction, and she could feel rejection already coming.
"Shut up! He isn't going to meet you in private; all privacy was dismissed and never rescheduled. Justin here belongs to me, and nothing can avert it. i***t!" she yelled at Clara, returning to Justin, faking cries.
"Justin, this is a moment of decision. I can't stand here and watch my newfound mate holding another lady carelessly without my permission. We need to leave here instantly," Clara yelled at him.
"Justin, are you leaving me for her after all our loving memories together?" Olivia asked him gently while caressing his chest. Clara could feel the doubts all over Justin's face.
"No, it shouldn't be what I'm thinking. This boy is not going to reject me, or is he?" Clara asked herself inwardly.
"No, Olivia. I have loved and will always love you, Olivia. We will do life together, and no being can separate us." He reassured Olivia while holding her hands tightly. They hugged themselves.
"I am not becoming her mate, miss. Find life somewhere else." Justin, who seemed to have lost his voice all this while, suddenly found it just to utter that to Clara.
Clara felt a sharp pain across her chest. She stood frozen for some minutes before she regained her confidence. She felt utterly useless and unwanted at that point. The mate she has waited and prepared for so long could utter those dangerous words to her. Her soul almost left her as she felt empty within.
She noticed her gown collar was soaked with tears and walked towards the door to leave the room. She got to the door and turned back, only to see Justin's arms around Clara's waist. Her heart shattered more; she had never felt as frustrated and confused as she was feeling. She walked out the door and turned to see if Justin was probably coming after her, but the door was shut against her. It dawned on her that the alpha mate she desired so much was gone to another lover.
She couldn't walk well as the weight of her discovery was heavy on her tiny legs. She slowly stopped a cab to stop her at her school building. She cried uncontrollably inside the car that the cab man thought she lost a dear person to her.
"Hello, young lady. Is everything alright? You lost someone to death?"
"What is worse than losing your most desired alpha mate?" she thought, but there was no need to reply to this man; he wouldn't help.
"I desire my alpha mate" was all she could tell him.
She fell to the floor and wept as she got to her room.
"Why is life this cruel to me? I lost my parents, and I can vouch that it was through cruelty and envy because they never died at the right time. Now, my only solace is gone. The only alpha mate my being desires, Olivia and her family have truly dealt with me," she said to herself and sobbed grievously.
Another thought quickly struck her mind again. "Why did Justin choose Olivia before me? Beta Melvin stole from my father because of the whole property and wealth. Maybe they didn't tell him the true story and why I was destined to marry a great alpha mate. Isn't destiny meant to triumph at all costs again?" She asked a thousand questions in one minute.
"Every being in me wanted to reconnect with my alpha mate, but everything shattered so quickly that he rejected me instantly. Olivia was right; I am such an unlucky child." She thought more to herself.
