SABINE

328 Words
“What are you doing here?!” Rojan jumped at sound of a voice from behind him. It was loud and meant to embarrass him. He looked to his back and there, standing straight almost rigid is Sabine Brighton. Elder sister to Samantha. Her brows almost touching. Nose flaring. With a look of distaste in her face. “I- I was waiting for my mother,” Rojan answered with a stammer avoiding her gaze. “ This is not the right place. Why don’t you wait with the guards by the gate? Nobody gave you permission to come inside,” she said with a cold voice. Hinting at him that he is not welcome. She’s right, Rojan thought. He is not supposed to enter the house. He is only allowed to wait for his mother at the gate. Taking courage, he looked at Sabine again. She is tall, slender in figure. Her eyes the color of a calm sky are always hidden behind thick spectacles. Never has she worn her hair down. Always braided or in a bun style. Her clothes are always too prim or too proper. Almost like she’s hiding her self beneath simple clothing. Her unkempt brows always almost touching showing irritation to something or someone. She’s a far cry from Samantha her younger sister. Those are the things that made Rojan think of her as an ugly duckling. “I’m sorry Miss Brighton I’m going out now,” Rojan answered with his head down. “Good! And next time I don’t want to see you inside the house or I’ll make the guards drag you out. Only your mother is allowed in here since she works for us,” Sabine said with a straight face, her voice dripping with contempt. Rojan shook his head as he turned around to leave. Thinking of the gap between rich and poor. Of how lowly the rich treats the poor. Yet the poor still look up to the rich.
