Gallagher took out his phone but couldn"t think of anyone he could call. Harry was sedated in hospital. Bannerman was dead. He could call Ross – one of his former platoon members and a serving Metropolitan Police Officer – but Ross wouldn"t know anything unless he went rooting around in places he shouldn"t. He"d done it before for Gallagher and had received an official reprimand. Ross could have been kicked out of the Met had things not gone so well during the university siege. It would be better to leave Ross out of it – especially as someone had clearly leaked Bannerman"s photograph far too early in the investigation. Gallagher usually felt at home in a pub.
