Chapter 25
It was a week later and Danny Drury was sitting at his desk at GCHQ. Since he'd carried his aunt's coffin only one thing had occupied his thoughts. He'd been back to Hannah's sanctum. He'd rebuilt the computer systems from back-up files and he'd begun to join the dots. MI6 had closed ranks but Danny knew that Rutherford had been no hero. He knew about the missing MI5 officer, Bannerman – and he knew that Bannerman had been close to discovering something significant. Perhaps he'd found the answers and had been killed as a result. Everyone connected to whatever it was that Rutherford had been doing, whatever it was that had led to his aunt's murder, was dead or missing.
