After Damien left, Raine stood frozen in the middle of the garden, locked in a staring contest with Rocky. One woman and one dog just stay still in there.
Raine felt completely stuck.
A maid eventually approached her, breaking the silence.
"Ms. Alden, would you like to rest for a bit?" she suggested, pointing toward a shaded spot near Rocky.
"I've set up a lounge chair under the maple tree. The sun is perfect right now; you could relax there."
Raine followed the maid's gesture and saw the chair positioned just a few steps from Rocky. If the dog moved even slightly closer, it could easily pounce on her.
