Victor's POV
Among all the things I love in this world, the best of them all was watching her walk down the aisle and just from the looks of things even the blind would never fail to notice an angel.
Emy or Emily was a goddess who Dave really messed with, she would stir my world and wished that I was the one directed with all her love,I would make her the happiest woman alive.
For a very long time, he had been in a relationship with Danita as I would recall the very first time when I realized this.
I was seated alone in the hotel's room sipping a cup of coffee when she appeared on her own. Danita was clearly having a date with Dave during that time when he went out to the washroom to relieve himself.
“Hey man,I have been seeing you seated all by yourself for some time. Don't you have something to do?” She asked not knowing what I was going through at that moment.
“My mummy is sick at the hospital and the operation would never begin without paying the bill. I can't do anything about it so I thought that maybe I should come here all by myself and wait for nature to take its turn.”
I was in tears!
“No darling, there's no need for crying anymore. We've got a job for you.” I heard the sound from him, implying that Dave had just joined into our conversation.
“This man is in a relationship with a girl whom he doesn't love and the girl we are talking about is my friend. Now the assignment is for you to pretend that we are lovers just to make sure that we gain Emily's trust.”
“For just pretending to be Danita's boyfriend I personally will be paying you fifty thousand dollars every month. Are you ready to do this Victor?”
And that's how I got to come in this mess despite my mother not making it through her operation, may her soul rest in peace.
Emily was so good at keeping her emotions that when she received the phone call was so calmly responding,
“Backstreet at 8;00 am,Holwand street, meet me there.” I told her and hung up the phone call.
There was another very strong message to pass to her which looked like a life changing moment.
The next day very early in the morning,Emy would wake up all by herself and wore that Cinderella dress making her look so amazing and would never stop to look at her as she approached me.
“With me here,is a piece of information that is more valuable than gold, please take this and keep it to yourself.” I said as I handed the envelope to her, then I walked away.
One of the reasons why I always had some hopes was because of this girl. Her endless efforts would never stop to amaze many and who would imagine that just at the age of twenty six she had made it as the ministry, Emily was always a doctor genius and got an invitation from the president himself begging her to serve him under his ministry as the Minister for Health. This girl definitely was going places!
The next place I would go was back home where me and Danita stayed,I was never shocked to see him walking out and all that Dave would say was,
“I will send you last month’s balance for being such a good actor.” This was after being done with the divorce he told me he was working on.
“Another thing Victor,” he stopped me before walking away completely,
“Emily has just found out about us, you have always played an important role. However,I have to inform you that your importance to us will cease after getting the cash,”
He said making it so clear that my job was now lost. I could never want to imagine that this would mean that I got to go back to where I came from.
My life after momma's death was nothing worth existence,I had two brothers and sisters who were always depending on me and the only way I would get something for them was by pretending to be Danita's boyfriend and this would come with an appreciable cash flow since I had taken an oath that she was going to be the very last person we were ever going to lose as a family.
Emily had always known me for being an officer of the law and perhaps that's why she never questioned when I handed the letter over to her.
Any moment I would think about Emily words would always fill all that she spoke in bringing a lot of hopes. She once told me that what killed mum was never the Cervical cancer that the doctor had diagnosed, but the worries and stress of a mother who always wanted the success of children.
I was never going to imagine that this was the last time I was seeing her.
Down to the dusty road of the town, towards the countryside, where the sun shined so hard. I would remember how my life in the city had been.
The experience had been worth learning however my only regret was not telling her the ideal truth.
This truth was that I loved Emily to death, something that I felt ever since I had set my eyes on that beautiful face of an angel wrapped in human flesh.
