Chapter 6

As she forced herself to get up, she saw the tall trees not far away. Immediately, her eyes lit up with joy. She knew she would be safe after she hid there. Hearing footsteps behind her, she tried to run but ended up falling again as she felt a burning sensation on her left thigh. She got hit by one of the arrows. "Ahh!" she cried out in pain. Her lungs couldn't take it anymore. They weren't used to running such a long distance. Even though she had supernatural powers, she hadn't mastered even half of them, making her no different from an ordinary person. Breathing heavily with no saliva in her mouth, she realized that was it for her. There was nothing more she could do now. She closed her eyes tightly, waiting for what was to come. "Maybe this is my fate. This is how I will die," she thought. Although she was frustrated that all the work she had been putting in for years was in vain, she didn't even have time to avenge her parents' death, let alone bury them. But at least she would see her parents again. She opened her eyes with a smile. There was nothing she was scared of now. Whatever they did to her, she wanted to witness it. One of the men took a step forward, and as he did, a shadow appeared out of nowhere. In a split second, a "s***h!" sound was heard. Immediately, the man's body was split in half. Stunned, the remaining men went into attack mode. But what attacked them? No one else except Jen and the men were present. What just happened? Jen was just as clueless as they were. Neither she saw what made the body split in half, nor did she see what attacked the men. She only heard the sound. The men began shooting arrows everywhere around them. When they ran out of arrows, the shadow appeared again, this time slicing all three men at the same time. As much as Jen wanted to keep her eyes open, her body failed her, and she blacked out. When she woke up the next morning, she slowly opened her eyes. A bright light shone on her face, highlighting her beauty. The sun's rays danced across her features, illuminating her smooth skin and accentuating her delicate facial structure. Not recognizing the room she was in, she ruffled through her memory to recall how she got there. The memory of the men being attacked by a mysterious shadow flashed before her eyes. A little scared and curious, she tried to get up and see who saved her life. "That person is a god of all masters in this world," she thought. "Imagine if he helps me with my powers; I would become more powerful than those men who were chasing me yesterday." Getting excited, she jumped off the bed, only to fall on the wooden floor with a loud bang. "Ahh!" she screamed in pain, almost forgetting she got hit yesterday by the burning arrow. She looked down at her legs and had the most terrifying moment of her life. "Ahh! How did I get black spots on my legs!" she screamed, scratching her legs, only to find out that her arms were also affected. She couldn't help but scream in shock. "Ahhh!" she exclaimed, looking around the room for a mirror but finding none. She touched her face with a fast-beating heart. Suddenly, the door opened, and she immediately froze in place. A man holding a tray with a bowl and a cup came in with a mask on his face. It was the mysterious man! Stunned, she trembled lightly. "What is he going to do? Will he attack me?" Numerous questions ran through her mind. "Get up," he instructed in a cold tone. Unconsciously, she tried to get up, but the pain on her legs was unbearable. Bang! She fell down again. The mysterious man put down the tray and lifted her up, gently placing her on the bed. "Drink this," he said, handing her the cup. Looking inside the cup, she immediately got disgusted. "Is this blood?" she thought. She sniffed it, but surprisingly, there was no smell. It was scentless. She looked up at the man, who was staring at her intensely, and looked back down at the cup. "Drink it," he said. "It is a cheetah's blood. It will remove the black spots and become part of your DNA. If you don't want it, you can leave." He said it directly, without any emotion. "So direct and rude," she muttered under her breath. "He didn't need to tell me what it is." She sniffed it one more time before shutting her eyes tightly and drinking it in one gulp. To her surprise, it was quite tasty. "Mhm, not bad," she thought. "The arrow that you got hit by wasn't just any ordinary arrow on fire," he explained. "It was a 'Korvus' - a poison that only has an effect when it is on fire. After you got hit by it, the poison spread throughout your body, and that's why you got unconscious. If it was an ordinary human, they would have died on the spot." He handed her a bowl. "Eat this medicine; the pain will go away, and it will heal your wound." It looked like a porridge. "Looks normal to me," she thought. But as soon as she tasted it, she immediately spat it out. "Doesn't this man know how to cook?" she said silently. "Eww! What is this?" she asked, wiping her mouth. The man placed the cup on the tray and responded calmly, "If you don't like it, you can leave it and go. I'm going out; I will be back in the afternoon. In fact, I don't want to see you here when I return." With that being said, he closed the door and left for his meditation in the forest. Jen had no choice but to eat the medicine. Although it had a horrible, bitter taste, she was forced to swallow it. By the time she was done, she was feeling a lot better, and the spots had disappeared. She finally got out of the bed and went to tour the house. It wasn't like the palace; it was a normal house, which she had no problem with. It was located in a farm, in the center of the forest. The house was in an unorganized state. There were books scattered all over the floor, and the furniture was old and dusty. The walls were made of wood, and the windows were small, allowing only a little sunlight to enter. The room was dimly lit, with only a few candles illuminating the space.
