I was still curled up in bed, buried beneath the blankets and praying for sleep. If I could sleep, then maybe I could wake up and none of this would be real. Maybe the universe would reboot and be like, "f**k, I think we made a mistake. Didn't realize we still had the 'f**k-s**t-up meter' still set on your name. We'll fix this, don't worry."
Or maybe I'd made a mistake. Maybe it wasn't the mate bond. Maybe I was just hallucinating. I mean, I just shifted for the first time. My brain had just been roasted. Maybe I was experiencing some kind of weird, post-shift delusion? It was possible, right? RIGHT?!
But, fuck... That tug I'd felt in my chest? That magnetic pull that had yanked me out into the hallway? The way he smelled... warm and safe and f*****g, just... you know..
