The sun had already set by the time the lord and lady were told that dinner was ready. I had been placed in the same, constant position for so long that I felt like a statue, never to move again. My muscles were sore and the lily was starting to droop from not having been placed in water for but Lillian most likely didn’t mind one dead bloom. Her garden stretched on for miles, more taken care of than any I had seen with probably a million other white lilies waiting to be plucked for her painting purposes. We were about to excuse ourselves and head back to the inn for the night with the promise of returning in the morning for Lillian to finish her painting but the couple insisted on us joining them for dinner.
