One year ago. I had been out late on the boat, hauling in the nets and by the time I had reached the docks, the sun had already set and the lamps that lined the streets gleamed bright in the darkness. The heavy crate filled with fish crashed down onto the wood by my feet as I turned to reach for the second, about to start packing them in ice when a figure appeared on the docks, a woman who’s heeled boots clicked with every step like a warning echoing out into the night.
