BRIANNA'S POV Marilyn's words hit home and managed to ruin my mood. It wasn't her fault, though, and definitely not part of what she intended, but then she was telling nothing but the truth. I began to picture my mom's reaction if she gets wind that there's something going on between Ares and me. The more I pondered it, the more futile it became. All I could see was her angry and upset face. I exhaled, frustrated and exhausted. “Are you alright?” Marilyn noticed the change in me and became worried. “It's nothing. You've got nothing to worry about.” I scoffed and forged on, picking up my steps one after the other. The trio paused the moment their eyes fell on us. They seemed stupefied to see us by their side. Ares was the most startled of them all, and I couldn't contain my laughter.
