"Mother, if you're here for the same reason you keep on visiting every day last year, please give it a rest," Lyl tried to talk her mother out. "I have an errand today," Lady Cynthia said. Lyl just rolled her eyes. She couldn't trust her mother. "What?" "It better a real and serious one. I do not like it when your errand includes barging into schoolrooms," she glared at her. Her mother just chuckled. "You must be tired of your nosy mother," Lady Cynthia guiltily looked at her and sighed. "Alright, then. I shall respect your privacy. Although, I must admit, that admirer of yours sure is very sneaky." Lyl started receiving love letters on the third week of the school last year. They were always wrapped in a purple envelope with a lilac stamp and was written in a beautiful cursive form. They would always find a way inside Lyl's locker even when she tried to block all the openings. She wanted to throw them away but it would be rude for the sender especially when she never even gave a reply. She kept them in a locked chest that her mother soon discovered. And there is no escape when Lady Cynthia finds something that interests her. "Promise me, mother, that you shall be patient with me. Promise that you shall not snoop on your daughter. Whatever happens, do not interfere with my decisions," she looked at her mother's eyes directly. "Whatever happens? If something terrible is to happen to you I cannot vow that I will not meddle," Lady Cynthia frowned. "I understand. But still, you are to limit yourself from invading private matter," Lyl said. "Very well then, I promise," her mother swore. The carriage finally stopped. They must have arrived at the dropping area now. But it took awhile before the coachman opened the door for them. Lyl heard murmuring from outside, the coachman must be talking to someone. But who? "Here to drop off Lucy, yes?" she heard a familiar voice. Lucy? Who's Lucy? The door suddenly opened and her worst enemy appeared infront of them with a big smile. "Zeal's girlfriend! Didn't think you'll arrive this early." "My daughter has a boyfriend!" Lady Cynthia rose from her seat and bumped her head. "Ow!" Lyl panicked as her mother stepped out of the carriage. b****y tarnation! What did that Corbett just say?! "M-mother! W-wait!" She chased her mother. "I ought to meet this Zeal immediately. My dear daughter did not inform me about this relationship," Lady Cynthia told Kite. Didn't she just vow earlier?! "O-oh! Lady Cynthia! Good m-morning!" Kite nervously smiled and greeted Lady Cynthia. He didn't know the carriage was the Auberons'! Why didn't Max tell him? Good Lord, save him from embarrassment! "Do tell me, young man. Where is this Zeal?" "I, erh..." Kite scratched his head. Luck was on their side when the headmistress showed up. She wore yet another gray dress, the woman doesn't run out of them. Her wavy ash brown hair was down. Headmistress Laurelai Rosaline looks dull but she was astonishingly gorgeous. "Lady Cynthia," Headmistress Rosaline called. Lady Cynthia turned around to see who it was. "Oh!! Laurelai, good morning," Lady Cynthia greeted. "I believe we have an important matter to discuss, my lady." "Yes, ofcourse." Lady Cynthia turned to Kite and Lyl. "Excuse me, children, for I have a rather more important matter to attend to. I believe we shall meet soon, young man. And you, my dear, have a lot of explaining to do. I wish you both the best on your first day!" And with that, Lady Cynthia left together with the headmistress. Kite and Lyl sighed. Lyl glared at Kite. "What were you planning to do? You've already done enough messing with my life last year. " "I wasn't expecting you. It's Max's fault for not telling this was your carriage!" Kite pointed at Max. "You didn't let me finish," Max said. "Then what shall we do now that my mother believes I am Zeal's girlfriend?," Lyl crossed her arms. "Show her that you really are together with my brother? Hmm, come to think of it, you two could make a good pair," Kite smirked. "No! No way! I do not even like him the slightest bit!" "What about me? I can act like Zeal," Kite slammed Lyl to the carriage, cornering her between his arms. She was so short that Kite had to bend lower. The horror on Lyl's face was visible. She couldn't imagine a relationship with a Corbett! It is impossible! She'd be a punching bag! That will never happen! "No! You and your brother are scums! Especially you! I know you're merely towering over me to look down over my short height!" "Oh, yeah?" "Kite?" Lyl freezed under Kite when a girl suddenly appeared. She must be Lucy. "Oh, hey, Lucy. You're finally here," Kite was now facing Lucy, but he still didn't let go of her. Lyl had a chance to properly examine Kite's face. Unlike his brother, he had a tanned skin. He had tousled gray hair, which was thick and lustrous. His face was strong and defined, his features molded from granite. She discovered more of him when he faced her again. His emerald eyes now meeting hers, it felt like he brought her to the deepest part of the forest. "Do you like what you see?" Kite smirked. "No. Were you always this ugly?" she grimaced. Never will she ever like the sight of a Corbett! One look at them would already give her a headache. The dratted rascals always smell trouble. They would always find a way to mess her day. Lucy snorted. "Can't believe you just got busted!" She tapped Kite's shoulder and smirked. "You should stop hitting on kids, you know." Did she just call her a kid?! "I am not a kid!" Lyl bursted. The earth suddenly shook. Her biggest weakness was her emotions. Once she loses her patience, destruction comes along. Zeal always had to deal with it, taking responsibility for bullying her while Kite runs away to save his life. Kite's hands moved to her shoulders, trying to stop her from destroying the school again with her abilities. "Woah, woah, chill," Kite said. "I know I am short but I am not a kid! And you! Take back what you have told my mother!" "Alright! I will when I see her again! Just stop the earthquake!" Students evacuated from the castle. All eyes were on Lyl and she couldn't bear the embarassment. Some weren't surprised that Lyl caused it. "She's at it again!" "What's happening?!" "On the very first day she's making trouble!" "Ack! I hate this!" "Another episode of Lilac Auberon Needs Therapy." Bloody hell with these people! She didn't do anything wrong! Why do they always point at her? Yes, she admits she lacks emotional control but— Yes, it really is her fault. The earthquake stopped and everyone was relieved. Though there were cracks under their feet, no damages on the castle walls. Phew! Lyl took her bag from the carriage and ran away, not looking back. Her eyes watered, making her vision blurry, but she cared not at all. The plants she passed by wiltered. Everything green turned dull. She hoped everything would turn out great at least on the first day. But classes haven't even begun and she's already having a terrible time! How much more will this day give her? She didn't notice two people walking towards her way and ran in between them. She tripped off and landed on her face. Blood ran from her nose and everything was black.
