"She cannot be serious! It was not even true! I am not in a relationship with anyone! I do not even have friends to begin with!" She grabbed her own hair and tried to kick the wall.
"Ow!" Now her feet hurt.
Lady Cynthia must have arranged it with the headmistress! She must have asked her who Zeal is and asked to put him in her class!
The girl continued to write more in her notebook. "You seem to lose your senses when you get angry. You always do foolish things," she innocently wrote.
"How do you know that? You don't know me."
"I know everything about you. I watch you all the time," she wrote.
Lyl felt chills. "Erh, why would you do that?"
"Who knows," the girl wrote. She squared her shoulders before turning her back against Lyl and started walking away.
"Creepy."
Lyl read her class schedule as she continued her trip to the library. Thinking she'd attend to class with a Corbett again makes her want to cut classes. But the thought of having both Corbetts in her class drives her insane that she wants to ditch all of them.
Kite was in her class last year and she was often sent to detention with him for always arguing in class. One time in Alchemy class, Kite spilled his potion on her head and turned her skin blue. She spilled hers on him in return and all his hair fell, turning him bald. They both failed the activity for making the wrong potion and testing it on their classmate.
She stopped when she passed by the laboratory where Alchemy classes are held. The door was open and she heard two people talking inside. She saw Kite facing away from her.
What could he be doing here? Classes haven't begun.
She shook her head. What that Corbett does is none of her business. Being nosy won't do her any good.
"Lady Lilac, what are you doing there?" Lyl turned around and saw Dennis with Arren.
"O-oh! I was just on my way to the library," she said nervously and then looked at Arren. "I thought the freshmen are having a session with the regents?"
"I'm actually a second-year transferee," said Arren while biting his lips.
Her heart leaped for joy. So it is not impossible to be in the same class as Arren!
"This is Miss Berry's laboratory. It's where we'll have Alchemy classes," Dennis told Arren. He must be having a tour around the school.
"Oh, I see," Arren replied.
Lyl wondered from what school Arren is from. He wore a black tie, indicating he's a demon. There is no other school in Argen that offers education for nonhumans. Where could he come from?
"If I may ask, what school did you transfer from, Arren?" she asked.
"I-I was homeschooled," Arren looked away elbowed Dennis a couple of times.
"We shall go now, my lady. Excuse us," Dennis grabbed Arren by the elbow and took their leave.
~~~
Miss Berry's laboratory was Kite's last stop. He spent the whole morning collecting Sir Grigori's materials. He was lucky no regent caught him not attending the assembly.
"Here." Miss Berry gave him a jar of worm guts and a bottle of snail slime. "What else? Oh, right! Dragon blood!"
He took all the materials and put them in the bag. "This is disgusting. He really uses this for medicine?" He cringed.
"Yes, dear. That is why you ought to keep yourselves healthy," said Miss Berry.
"Gross," still disgusted.
"What school did you transfer from, Arren?" He heard Lyl's voice outside the lab.
Arren.
Who the b****y hell is Arren?
"Have I forgotten something?" Miss Berry asked.
"Nope, not at all," he said after checking the list. "Thanks, Miss Berry."
"Anytime."
He hurriedly went out so he could catch up to that Arren only to find out he already left. He frowned when he only saw Lyl outside.
"What are you doing here?" he asked.
"Nothing of your concern. What are you doing here?"
"Sir Greg's errands," he said, showing her the bag he's carrying.
"Ew, I hear something sluggish— Ah!!" she shouted when he pulled out the jar of worm guts. "Put it back! Disgusting!" she said, running away.
Kite just chuckled. He then returned to the infirmary.
"I got everything on the list."
He put the bag on his desk, adding up to the mess.
"Good. Here, brew this and give it to your brother," Sir Grigori gave him a small pack of elderflower tea.
"This isn't acetaminophen," Kite took the pack.
"Acetaminophen's an advanced medicine. It takes a lot of time making it so just take that. Do not fret. His fever will die down by the morrow or the next day." Sir Grigori took out all the materials Kite collected for him and started putting them on a shelf and some cabinets. "What are you still doing here? Leave."
Kite crossed his arms. "Arren?"
"I thought you didn't really need my answer to that?" Sir Grigori smirked.
"Just answer it!"
"Alright, alright," he chuckled. "Arren's a transferee student."
"That's all? After all of these that I got for you?"
"I already gave you a remedy for fever. You should leave now and take your lunch."
"What else do you know about that Arren?"
"Nothing more." Sir Grigori went back to his desk and pushed Kite away, towards the exit. "You may leave now."
"Geez, thank you for your care!" Kite sarcastically said.
He went to the cafeteria to eat and also get food for his sick brother.
"Brenda! Good to see you again!" Kite greeted the grumpy fat lady behind the counter.
"Oh, great. Corbett's here again," Brenda said in a spiritless tone, rolling her eyes.
"One bear meat sandwich and a bowl of porridge, please."
"One bear meat sandwich and a bowl of porridge coming right up." Brenda snapped her fingers and a bowl of porridge appeared before Kite.
"Where's my sandwich?"
"We ran out. Next."
Kite glared at Brenda and took the bowl. "Tch."
He didn't have a choice but move along before the other students yell over him. He decided he'd come back later. Skipping lunch won't do him good, he remembered the worm guts and snail slime.
He went to the dormitories to feed his stupid brother. He took the logbook and wrote the current time. Before writing his signature, he spotted Arren's name.
"Arren Sorath, huh."
Arren logged in this morning. He lives in room 261, just across theirs. He's roommates with Dennis. Wait, what?
"Dennis has a roommate now?"
Dennis never had a roommate ever since he became a regent. His old roommate transferred rooms because he was too strict on him by setting rules and curfews. With his authority as a regent, he requested never to have a roommate again.
"Yes, dear. Arren just moved in earlier," Minerva showed up of a sudden again.
"Yeah?" He looked at the logbook again.
Arren. Interesting.
He climbed up the stairs and went to their room. The lights were out and Zeal was on his bed, sleeping soundly. He turned on the lights and kicked his brother to wake him up.
"Wake up, dolt."
Zeal didn't respond so he kicked him again.
"Wake up."
He didn't respond again. Kite had no choice but to kick him hard enough to push him off to the floor.
"I said wake up!"
Zeal was topless, in his boxers, his body slightly covered by his blanket.
"What?!" he shouted.
Kite put the bowl of porridge with a spoon on the side table. "Eat."
Zeal stood up, sat on his bed, and took the porridge to eat while Kite went to the door. "Where are you going?"
"To make you some tea."
"What for?"
"Your fever. I'll be back." Kite went out again to go to the kitchen. He came back with a cup of tea in his hand.
"Back so quickly," Zeal rolled his eyes and put the bowl back on the table. He only finished half of it. Motivated to get well as soon as possible, he took the tea from Kite.
"Woah, easy. It's still hot."
The tea was gone in just a few gulps.
"That was quicker than how it was made. Too eager to get well, brother?" Kite smirked.
"Shut up," Zeal threw his pillow at him. "Dennis got a new roommate."
"Yeah, I heard."
"And Room 264's got its tenant back."
Room 264? Isn't that...
"Didn't think she'll move back. What could be the reason?" Kite asked.
"Dunno." Zeal took the bowl and ate the other half of the porridge.
"But her name's not in the logbook yet. Are you sure it's her?"
"Of course."
Room 264's tenant is back again. Kite smirked. He's got a plan to give her a warm welcome.
