Not anger. Not punishment. Just warning. And somehow... that was worse. --- PALACE RUMORS BEGIN By the next morning, whispers had already started spreading. A maid walking close to me spoke quietly. "I heard someone saw the king speaking to a maid..." My steps slowed. Another voice added. "In the garden area..." My chest tightened. People were talking about me. Without even knowing my name. --- INYUB WARNS AGAIN Inyub pulled me aside quickly. "You met him again, didn't you?" I looked away. "I didn't do anything wrong." She sighed. "That doesn't matter here." Her eyes were serious now. "When the king notices someone, the palace does not stay quiet." I didn't understand what she meant. But I felt fear growing slowly inside me. --- QUEEN DOWAGER MOVES Inside the royal hall, Queen Dowager Shunyung listened to reports. Then she stopped. "Who is this maid?" Consult Kim answered carefully. "A new servant. Nyang." Silence. Her eyes sharpened. "Watch her." That single order changed everything. --- KING WANGYU'S SILENCE King Wangyu stood alone in his chamber. He didn't understand it himself. Why he kept thinking about her. The maid who didn't bow with fear. The maid who didn't lie easily. For the first time... his thoughts were not about politics. --- NYANG ALONE That night, I stayed late cleaning. The palace was quiet. Too quiet. Then I saw shadows passing in the hallway. Watching. Following. I stopped breathing for a second. Someone was observing me. --- ENDING (EPISODE 3) I whispered to myself: "What did I do... to be seen like this?" And for the first time in the palace... I wished I was invisible again. Suspicion. --- MAID JIWON RETURNS (PALACE RUMOR SPREAD) A group of maids gathered near the corridor. One of them whispered loudly. "She's the one the king saw." Another replied: "A maid like her?" They laughed softly. But it wasn't funny. It was dangerous. --- INYUB BECOMES MY ONLY SAFE PLACE Inyub pulled me aside again. "You must stop drawing attention." "I'm not doing anything!" I replied. It found me. --- QUEEN MIN ENTERS THE STORY In the royal chamber, Queen Min stood elegantly. Beautiful... but cold. She heard the rumors. "A maid the king noticed?" Her smile faded slowly. "She is nothing," she said softly. But her eyes said something else. Jealousy had already started. --- KING WANGYU AGAIN That evening, I was assigned to deliver documents near the royal hall. "Yes, Your Majesty." --- A MOMENT TOO QUIET Silence stayed between us. Then he spoke again. "People are talking about you." My heart dropped. "I didn't ask for that," I said quickly. He studied me. Then said something softer than before: "I know." That single word confused me more than anything. --- INYUB WATCHES FROM FAR Inyub saw everything again. But this time, she looked worried. Servants moved carefully through the halls, their voices low, their eyes avoiding the throne room. Inside, Nyang stood before the king. “You sent for me,” she said calmly, though something in her chest felt uneasy. The king studied her for a moment. “You have been asking questions,” he said slowly. Nyang hesitated. “I only wish to understand my past.” The king’s eyes darkened slightly. “Some pasts are better left buried.” Silence fell between them. But Nyang did not back down. “With respect, my lord… I deserve to know the truth.” --- Outside the throne room, Nyang’s friend Amina stood near the corridor, waiting nervously. She had followed Nyang quietly, worried about what the king might say. “I told her not to come alone,” Amina whispered to herself. Then she noticed something strange. High above, hidden behind the carved pillars, a shadow moved. Amina narrowed her eyes. “Who is there…?” But before she could react, the shadow disappeared. --- Inside the throne room, the king stepped closer to Nyang. “If you continue this path,” he said in a low voice, “you may uncover things that will destroy you.” Nyang lifted her chin. “Or set me free.” For a brief moment, something like fear flashed across the king’s face. Then it was gone. “You may leave.” --- As Nyang walked out, Amina rushed to her side. “What did he tell you?” she asked quickly. Nyang shook her head. “Nothing… but I know he is hiding something.” Amina frowned. “And I think someone else is watching you too.” Nyang paused. “Who?” Amina glanced back at the corridor. “I don’t know… but I saw a shadow.” Somewhere far above the palace halls— Imyub stood in silence. “She is not alone,” he murmured. “Good.” A slow smile formed on his face. “This is exactly how it should begin.” TBC Follow me for more
