Chapter eight - Leave us alone

Vince's POV:

Ricky is back, and as I see, he won't leave us alone. I don't know where Emma was when he talked to her. Next time I will go with her. I can't leave her alone. The creepy thing is that he always knows where we are. I am starting to think that he is stalking us. I have no idea how we can get rid of him. I don't even know how he is doing all of this. Emma won't give him anything, and he knows it. I'm afraid that he wants to get rid of me. I have to be careful. This boy is crazy. I wish that he could leave us in peace. We didn't do anything to him. He was sent to this place by his parents. Emma has nothing to do with that. The worst thing is that we don't know where he is. I can inform the police, but they can't do anything. You can't arrest an innocent person. There is one way in which we can get rid of him forever. The problem is that if I do it, I'll be in trouble. I can't leave Emma alone. We need to find a way to deal with him. Ricky won't win. I won't let him. The question is how I can stop him. Every person has a weak spot. Maybe Emma is his. If something happens to her, he might give up. No, I can't risk her life. There must be another way. Whatever it is, I will make sure that my girlfriend is safe. I can't let her get hurt. She is important to me, and I don't want to be without her. We'll find a way to stop Ricky. He won't take Emma from me.

I woke up in an empty bed. I guess that Emma woke up early. In that case, I can go and check on her. It's not a lie that since Ricky came back, I have been scared. The thing is that I am afraid that he will do something to Emma. I have no idea what his plans are. Well, I'm sure that they are not good. Why can't he forget about this and move on? This boy is getting on my nerves. We can't even go to work in peace. He will follow us everywhere. I don't understand what his problem is. Ricky was the bad person, not us.

I got ready and walked downstairs. I checked the kitchen, but Emma wasn't there. I saw that she had made breakfast. I found her in the backyard. Sometimes I forget that this is her favorite place in the house. I didn't say anything and sat next to her. She refused to look at me. I think that she didn't notice me. There is one thing that I can do. I pulled her for a hug and kissed the top of her head. There are some things, which you can't describe, but they make you feel good.

- Hey, are you ok?

- No. I'm scared that Ricky will do something to you.

- I'll be fine. You have to take care of yourself.

- I know, but if you are not with me, there is no point in living.

- As much as I appreciate it, this is not true.

- If you say so.

- Why don't we eat our breakfast? During the lunch break, we can go for a walk.

- That will be nice.

Both with Emma went to eat. I know that she is scared, but she can't live in fear all the time. I wish that I could help her. Right now, I can't do anything. Later, we went to work. I noticed that Ricky was behind us. I don't know from where he took a car. It's not good. Now, he will follow us everywhere. I didn't tell Emma because she was already stressed. One day, this boy will pay me for everything that he did. All I have to do is find the right moment. He won't win. I won't let him ruin my life. Back then, I was a teenager. Now, I have grown up, and I will fight for what is mine.

- Hey, Kim. Can we help you? - I asked

- I want to ask how Emma is.

- I'm fine, thanks.

- If you want, you can take a couple of days off.

- No, thank you. I feel better when I work.

- If you need anything, feel free to ask me. I will help you.

- Maybe you can give us advice on something. It's personal, so please don't tell anyone.

- I promise. How can I help you?

- One boy is stalking me. He started in high school. Now, he is obsessed with me. The boy has problems. He wants to hurt Vince so he can have me. He is following us everywhere. How can we get rid of him?

- Have you talked with the police?

- No, he didn't do anything to us. - I said

- I think that you have to do it. Ask officer Mayers to help you. He is a family friend. I will give you his number.

- Ok, thank you.

- No problem. If you need anything else, call me. I have a meeting now, but I should finish it after an hour.

Kim walked away. She is not only a boss to us. Also, she is a friend. I think that we have to call the police. Maybe they won't do anything, but we won't deny some help. I guess that we have to cancel our lunch break walk. The problem is that Ricky might follow us. If he understands where we are going, he will be careful.

- We have to do this. - I said

- I know, but Ricky will know where we are.

- Emma, we need help.

- Ok, but we have to make sure he is not following us.

- We can go separate, but I don't want to leave you alone.

- No, we'll walk through the back door. We park the car in the same place. Today, we'll walk or take the bus. That way, he won't notice us.

- Ok, we'll do that.

On the lunch break, Emma and I walked to the front door. We saw Ricky waiting in a car. Exactly as we expected. Both of us walked through the back door. Later, we took a bus. We have a car, but we can't use it right now. After twenty minutes, we were in front of the police station. I never thought that I would come here.

- Hello, how can I help you? - one man asked

- Hi, we are searching for officer Mayers. - Emma said

- You have luck. That's me.

- Oh, great. Our boss Kim recommended you.

- Let's see if I can help you.

- Look, sir. There is one boy, or to say, a man, who is stalking us. He was bothering us in high school. Later, we lost contact. Now, he appeared again. The problem is that he might do something to us. How can we make him stay away from us?

- Ricky Campbell.

- The son of miss and mister Campbell?

- I know his parents. My son works in their company.

- Really? - Emma asked

- They are nice, but not their son. Can you do something about him?

- If he didn't do anything to you, I can't arrest him.

- He r*ped me when I was eighteen.

- It's true. Ricky wants to date me. I have told him that I don't want to. He can't accept a no. The problem is that he is walking after my boyfriend. Sir, you have to do something.

- He has to stay away from us. - I said

Both with Emma walked back to our office. I hope that we can get help. Otherwise, I don't know what we'll do. Luckily, when we are in the office, no one bothers us. I never thought that I would enjoy my job so much. The afternoon we spent working. We can use this as a distraction. Kim came to talk with us. Emma told her about our conversation with officer Mayers. I like our boss. She helps us a lot.

After work, we walked home. Emma wanted to cook dinner. I told her that I could go and buy something. I walked to the nearest restaurant. I took the menu and checked what they had. Soon, a waiter came.

- Did you choose?

- You! What are you doing here?

- I came to take your order.

- You don't even work here.

- Who cares?

- Ricky, leave us alone. We don't want you around us.

- I have told you. If you two break up, I won't bother you.

- We won't do that. What do you want from us?

- From you, nothing. I want Emma.

- You won't have her. She is happy with me.

- I'm sad to hear that. Enjoy your life. Some people die young.

- What?

- Bye. - he said and left

I won't lie that this scared me. I paid for the food and walked home. It's better if I don't tell Emma about that. Let's hope that he won't kill me. I don't want to die. There are so many things that I haven't done. When I walked home, I saw Emma on the couch. I put the food on the coffee table and sat next to her. She looked upset. I pulled her for a hug, and she rested her head on my chest.

- Emma, are you ok?

- Did he do something to you?

- Who?

- You know who.

- How do you know?

- He called me. If we don't break up, he will hurt you. Vince, you have to do something. I don't want to lose you. - she said, and I saw tears in her eyes

- He won't do anything, I promise you.

- I trust you, but not him.

- I won't let him hurt you. If you want, we can go to your parents' house.

- No, I don't want them to worry.

- Everything will be fine.

- I hope so. I don't want to live without you.

- I'm glad to hear that. Ricky will get what he deserves. I'm sure about that.

- Why not? I need a distraction from our problems.

- Can we go to our room? I want cuddles. - she said and made puppy eyes

- Will you let me carry you?

- I am not a little girl, but I would love it.

- I like how well we understand each other. The baby will be lucky with us.

- What baby?

- Ours. I mean, when we have one.

- Oh, ok.

- Relax. We won't have one now. First, we need to solve the Ricky problem.

- If you are a good boy, I might give you a treat.

The rest of the night we spent in our room. We watched two movies and later fell asleep. Today was a tiring day. I feel like I can take a rest while I am at work. Most people complain, but I don't. I have to take care of Ricky, but I don't know what to do. I'm sure that he has planned everything. The problem is that he might get rid of me. In that case, Emma would be alone. Something that I can't permit. I won't leave her with this i***t. He won't even take care of her. This man is dangerous. If something happens to her, I will never forgive myself. I love Emma, and I will keep her safe.
