Cade: I should’ve pulled back sooner. Hell, I should’ve never let it get that far. Sitting here, shoulder brushing hers, her voice all soft edges and cracked honesty—it was too much, too close, too easy to forget every reason why I needed to keep my hands to myself. Her words had cracked something in me. Not supposed to want this. Like I hadn’t been fighting that very same truth since the first night that she came back here.
