Chapter 6

My chest tightened and a sense of unease washed me. I turned to look at who it was, it was the panther shifters again, here to stir trouble again and the anger embedded in their looks told the fact that they also came to wash away the humiliation of earlier tonight. Of course, I wouldn't allow any trace of panic reflect on my face. It's just who I am, No sign of weakness. "Hehe, looks like your little boyfriend isn't here to save you, didn't your grandmother teach you that delay is not denial? I, Larry would always get what I want." The garlic-nosed man said, his laughter reminiscent of Joker, the popular movie villain. His lackeys responded with laughter, clutching their stomach tight as though they have just heard the biggest joke of their lives. Just how shameless could this people be, when they saw Stanley, they fled with their tails between their legs, and now that I'm left all alone, they acted all supreme and powerful. I even feared being infected by their shamelessness more than their actual intention. "Hey, garlic nose, what are you waffling about? Can't you see you have a destiny to tarry? It even rhymes well with your name. Your mother must have careful selected your name and she must be a fortune teller if I'm not wrong." I said with a very provocative smile. I wouldn't be lenient with my tongue especially with people like this. His face turned green from anger, even the people behind him held the urge to burst out laughing, they held it so much that the vein on their forehead was bulging. Was it possible for him not to notice the urge to laugh from his own lackeys? It caused his anger to erupt even further that he seemed to have lost his reason. "You!!! I'll play with you so much that you wouldn't be able to keep living, that you die in the process." He charged forward, morphing mid-air into a panther as his claws reached for my throat but his words that was spoken through gritted teeth contradicted his words. "You dare?!" I retorted, forming hand seals, I wasn't a pushover that would sit idly and wait for death. I formed hand seals, unleashing my warlock abilities, and formed a translucent wall that had things that were somewhat like spikes in front, that forced him to retreat back a few steps, with his hand which he struck forward feeling slightly sore. The wall I formed was one that had both offense and defence, but there were faint lines that ran down the wall after the collision. My heart quivered, that was one of my strongest defensive witch abilities, and a random strike from this diminished figure was able to slightly damage it with just a random attack. "Hmph, with all the mouth, this is all you can do?" I snorted, provoking him further while forming more hand seals to reinforce the wall, closing those tiny gaps and doubling the strength. I knew one thing for sure, it's easier to win a battle when your opponent's mind is clouded with emotions. So my tongue didn't relent and I made sure I took every chance to anger him the more. "What are you all morons looking at? Capture her but make sure you spare her life so I could play with her till she dies." He barked at his lackeys. Those ones seemingly jolting out of their shock, they shifted and launched attacks from different angles. They mustn't have expected that an ordinary bartender like me would have the ability to resist one of their leader's attacks. "Come at me, let's see if you have the strength to back it up." Although I said this on the outside, on the inside I felt pressured, I wouldn't be able to last long as I was outnumbered. I quickly changed hand seals and turned to wall to a ball, covering me. These people were so ruthless, they blocked me from every angle, sealing any escape route. I changed hand seals again, using the ball to keep shooting out spikes, occasionally pushing them away. But I knew I couldn't continue like this, exhaustion started to get the better of me. "You good for nothings, you can't even handle a single girl?" Larry snarled at them, joining the battle. Now I truly panicked, I couldn't even have the strength to attack verbally anymore, all my focus was on strengthening the ball and repeatedly sending out spikes to keep them at bay. With my exhaustion wearing in and Larry entering the battle, I entered a precarious situation. My head constantly running through different instances on how to escape but I couldn't come up with anything. The only thing I had to do was endure and keep persisting, hoping for a miracle. I tried to enter a battle of attrition hoping they would be foolish and give up. But for that to work in my favour? Nah, nothing ever works in my favour. They easily saw through my little scheme. "Do you really think you can keep up with this annoying ball you have around you? You'll soon grow exhausted and at that time there be only one fate for you, which is to die, what am I even saying? The moment you jammed us this today, your fate was already sealed." He laughed as they all increased to ferocity of their attacks. I felt really reluctant, was I Amoura really going to end up dying in the hands of these bastards? I gritted my teeth in anger, but there was no way it could help me. I've ran out of options, I had little options as I wasn't able to use my warlock abilities very well, as there was no one to put me through, my Lycan abilities was a no go area, I couldn't even shift. Alas, the moment finally came, I couldn't hold up anymore. My defense broke and I was opened to them. Just as it was broken I felt pain in my abdomen, a silver dagger had pierced me, just inches away from my vitals. I felt immense pain, I couldn't even scream as my voice was held by shock. I slowly raised my head just to meet with the creepy smile from Larry. Looking at me in such a situation his smile got wider. "I told you, you shouldn't have messed with me." He was just about to twist the dagger when a heart chilling scream rang out. He pushed me away, I feel to the ground in a sorry manner, I couldn't tell what was going on as I was too weak. I could only pick out more heart chilling screams and the sound of Larry cursing. Everything then turned deathly silent, was I dead already? Just as I was about to confirm, I figure stood directly in front of me, seeing that face, I was shocked as it was so familiar. Finally I closed my eyes, my situation clearly unknown whether I was dead or fainted out of exhaustion.
