PARK JIMIN, HE AND I GO A WHILE BACK.
Before BTS debuted, before he went to High School of Arts, before I can speak and he can walk properly, both of us, we already know each other.
We even born on the same date and month, just a different year.
While he was born in 1995, I was born in 2000. We’re exactly 5 years apart.
Our parents knew each other, his mom owns a Busan local restaurant and his dad works as an engineer in a construction company, after my dad died when my mom was pregnant with me she doesn’t really have the time to actually take care of me, working day and night to feed our mouths and tummy is enough for her. One day, she went to Jimin’s mom restaurant to order takeout for us to eat, his mom is kind enough to let my mom work there to help her with the restaurant. At that same day, Jimin was having his 5th birthday and I’m still one month old.
You can guess, from there we are inseparable, because our mom too.
We do everything together, while both of our moms took turns to take care of us.
“Haeun, you’re spacing out again, it’s almost 2 AM, you watch too much of him already” Soojin said while giving a teasing smile, I shook my head and scowl “I did not”.
“Keep telling yourself that, let’s go home, I’m tired, we have a new day tomorrow” Soojin said and dragged me outside of the company—the word YG is written proudly there, we started our walk back to the dorm which is pretty close, only a 10 minutes’ walk, that if you’re not late for practice, if you do it might felt like a 30 minutes’ run.
When we pass a little road section walking to the dorm I saw BTS posters hanged here and there, it’s really isn’t a shocking news anymore, Jimin did make it big before I do, he’s always been like that, even when he was little he always have that look and fighting spirit to be more than just ordinary, he likes to aim for the extraordinary and now he did though. BTS recent song ‘Spring day’ is now being played everywhere and I can’t lie to myself that I enjoyed listening to Jimin singing his part. It used to be just me watching him dance, but now it quickly escalated into thousands of girls.
I smiled and took a deep breath, I haven’t seen him since the year that he went to Seoul for auditioning into BigHit, I was naïve at that time to think that he wouldn’t make it and will go back to Busan the next day, huh, who am I kidding, it’s Park Jimin, he will make it. I always have that faith in him.
“Come on, why are you walking so slow?” Soojin asked me as we near the dorm, Soojin is one of the people who work in PR for YG entertainment, she used to live in a big apartment, one of Seoul’s best, but sadly, both of her parents died in a car accident like my dad, most of the money that her family have is to cover up the memorial process, she’s only left with a little of it, thus why she’s living in the dorm with me right now, she said it will be much more convenient.
I picked up my pace and jog over to the front entrance of the dorm, “Thinking about him again? I see what you did there, looking all gloomy while facing BTS posters, if I didn’t know you better, I would’ve thought you’re a sasaeng fans” Soojin joked over while putting her shoes in the shoe rack near the front door of our dorm room. I rolled my eyes and did the same action with my shoes.
“I would say the fault is on you though, he probably lost your contact over the 5 years he left Busan and here you are with his contact, given by his mom, rather than giving him a call you decided that it’s best to just sulk and drown in your own sorrow of not reuniting with him, it’s your loss” Soojin said, exactly standing her right with my brain but my heart says otherwise though.
“It’s not that simple, he got his own life, he’s famous now and I’m a nobody” I said to her while taking a sip of the milk that I poured in the clear glass just now. Out of the corner of my eyes I saw Soojin slamming her bag harshly to the sofa, probably feeling frustrated that I was this stubborn.
I wish Jimin and I were that simple, in fact we’re not.
I used to think that it will be just the both of us, like you know, childhood friendship turning into couple in the end. Silly me, of course it wouldn’t be just like that.
“It’s that b***h isn’t it? Gye Bora?” Soojin said while looking at me intently. I just sighed and shrugged my shoulders as a respond, I just simply don’t want to think or talk about her.
“She’s not a b***h you know, just like me, she supported Jimin too, she always has” I said while picking up the glass of milk that doesn’t look that pleasant anymore, I love milk, then and now, Jimin knows that, he knows me the best, “You’re blind Haeun, you supported him first, she just came to the picture a little while later, you deserve him, not her” Soojin said with an apparent scowl on her face.
I leaned back in the chair that I’m sitting right now and took a deep breath. Gye Bora. The only female solo artist from BigHit entertainment, she entered the company the same year as Jimin and debuted at 2013 with BTS, gaining immediate fans in the course of 6 months, she is known worldwide for her famous vocal technique and graceful dance moves. That’s Gye Bora for you.
