Destiny P.O.V.

It was finally over around 1pm and we headed back to the pack house to get ready for the after party. We went straight up to my room to get ready. Lee went to talk to the guys, he is also the beta of our pack.

Amy went straight to my neat and organized closet. Before long almost everything was on the bed or on the floor. Amy and I are basically the same size, we trade clothes all the time. We both know what looks good on each other so we usually pick out each other's clothes. We act like sisters and I love it being an only child.

She picks me out some lucky jeans and a baby blue tank with some ankle boots. I did my own hair in a French braid done to the right side and put on light makeup. I picked her out the same but her tank was hot pink and her braid was to the left side. Then we headed down to the garden.

The pool was steaming and all lit up with floating lilies, it was a disco in the water. The food bar was well stocked, surprising since the guys were standing so close to it. Balloons and streamers were everywhere saying " Congrats".

The music was playing some awesome music/dance songs. We were all having such a good time we lost track of time.

DONG...DONG...DONG...DONG the grandfather clock started to chime. I jumped and was getting nervous as the chimes kept going. DONG...DONG...DONG Amy started to do the countdown. DONG 8..DONG 9...DONG 10...My parents came into view from the kitchen with a cake all lit up and looked amazing. It had to be the smell from this morning my mom kept me away from. DONG 11...DONG 12...

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!" everyone shouted. Mom smiled and cried at the same time while my dad held her close. It was my birthday. I have just turned of age to sense my mate. I made a wish and blew out the candles.

"What did you wish for?" Amy smiled and asked.

"Well if I tell you it won't happen." I said, smiling back with a wink.

Then my head started hurting and my eyes started losing focus. The pain started in my neck. That's when I screamed out. My mother and father ran over to me.

"She's shifting!!!!!" Everyone moves, we need to get out in the open. My father yelled.

My mom comes to my side and comforts me," Just breathe with me baby and relax, it will be over soon."

I lay on the grass and the pain increased. I feel like I need to stretch and move. My clothes are feeling too restricting and start to claw at them shredding them with my elongated nails.

My mom notices what I'm doing and yells at someone to go get a sheet to cover me.

I scream out again and feel all my bones breaking and rearranging. My skin is itching and I feel as though I might explode.

I can barely hear my mothers words as the ringing in my head gets louder. I squeeze my eyes shut and start to grit my teeth. Mom throws the sheet over me and yells, breathe and count with me, "relax it will be worse if you tense up."

I do as she says and everything around me intensifies. I can smell everything and hear everything down to the crickets chirping.

All of a sudden it feels like a huge weight is lifted off me and I hear gasps all around me.

I open my eyes and the first thing I see is the night sky and all the stars vividly in the sky. I look down and see blondish paws with a blue shine to them. I look up at my parents and they have tears in their eyes.

'Hello'

Startled by the voice in my head I jumped up.

' Hello,' I said back.

Giggling the voice replies, 'Don't be frightened, Im your wolf, Layla. I am so glad that I am finally able to talk to you.'

'Wow, this is so much better than I ever imagined.' I say to her walking over to the pool area slowly so I can get used to this new form.

I look in the pool water and look at my reflection. My fur is a blond color but when I move it shines a blue color. My eyes are a bright emerald green.

'We are so beautiful.' I say to Layla.

'The full moon is out and we need to run.' Layla says.

I look around me and see everyone shifting and my parents come up beside me and nuzzle their noses into my neck.

'Let's go for a run sweetheart.' I hear my mothers voice in my head.

I nod and we all take off together into the night and return after a few hours.

I think of how I look in my human form and reach over to grab the sheet that was brought out earlier to cover myself as I run in and make a beeline to my room to get some sweats and a tank top.

It was a good thing it was a Friday, we were up way past 2 in the morning. Everyone started dissipating and going home. Mom and dad had already gone to bed so we cleaned up.

I didn't feel any wolf pull or smell any unique smells I couldn't resist, so I guess my mate isn't here which is ok. My wolf Layla is a very patient wolf, but she is excited to know she can now sense her mate, hopefully in the near future.

When I got up the next morning, my parents told me over breakfast that our pack was selected to host this year's mating ball. We will get to pick the theme and we decided on a masquerade mating ball. On the downside, we only have a week to prepare. Good thing I really like doing this kind of stuff. It is going to happen this next weekend during the full moon. I am ecstatic, I really get to plan a big event.
