Victor drove like a maniac in an attempt to get to the crime scene before or at the same time as Matt, but it didn't happen.

She woke up very early, and startled, thinking that she had overslept. Slipping her feet on her plushie sleepers, she jogged the hall towards Victor's room and knocked on the door, but there was no answer. She pressed her ear against the door trying to hear if he was still asleep.
