Alexa spent the next hour or so exploring the gigantically modern mansion which she just learned had been purchased by Dante for them to live in together, as a family.
The massive structure had a total of eighteen fully furnished bedrooms with walk-in robes and ensuites, including several nurseries, twenty bathrooms, eight living rooms, two kitchens, a wine cellar, a ballroom, three pools and two spas, a home theatre, a b**m themed dungeon, a library, several gardens with water fountain features, an underground garage and a total of around two hundred acres of land considered to be their property.
Not only that, but the mansion was positioned right on the open beachside, with their own private area nestled away safely from view of the public for around a mile or so in either direction.
The lapping of the powerful ocean waves could be heard from the balconies located on the south side of the mansion, overlooking the beach.
In short, it was absolute paradise!
As Alexa stood with Dante in the doorway of one of the larger nurseries, she felt the need to pinch herself, just to make sure she wasn’t dreaming right now.
And noticing her lost deep in thought, Dante moved across to stand beside her.
“What do you think?” he queried, knowing full well just how excited she was about this place.
“Dante, this place…” she paused, shaking her head in disbelief.
“It’s incredible. Far too good for someone like me.”
But Dante scoffed at the idea.
“Nonsense! You are my woman and my woman deserves only the very best of everything.” he insisted, wrapping both his arms around her shoulders and pulling her into him.
“Now this is only one of the nurseries and I’m happy for you to decorate it in any way you wish. We can have the walls painted, any furniture you might like, it’s completely up to you.”
“There’s no need to do any of that. It looks lovely as is.” she admitted.
Lowering his head, Dante let out a sigh.
He knew what she was doing; Alexa didn’t want to make any changes because it would cost him money. Money that she didn’t see as necessary spending.
But he wanted to spoil her, to give her something fun to do while she would be home on her own for the next couple of months prior to the birth of their son.
She needed to feel that she had the right to spend his money if she wanted to do so.
“Alexa, we’ve talked about this... you can make changes to this room and any other room in this house, excluding my office, of course.”
He smirked at the thought before continuing to reassure her.
“I want you to feel like this is your home as well as mine. Get creative and make it your own in any way that you choose to. I don’t know, buy curtains, rugs, statues, whatever the hell you want. Go completely crazy with decorating the place for all I care...”
She giggled, shaking her head at him as a large smile spread wide across her face at just how incredible this man was to her.
“I just want you to feel comfortable, bella… I want you to be happy here with me.” he added.
“But I am happy, Dante!” she insisted sternly.
“You don’t need to spend copious amounts of money to make me happy. I’m not like that. I don’t need endless amounts of cash to make me smile, or expensive outfits and gifts…”
She paused, cupping the side of his face with her open palm as she looked into his eyes lovingly.
“What I do need however, is you Dante... just you.”
“f**k, how did I get so lucky?”
He spoke with almost a growl to his already deepened voice, a proud smile upon his face as he held her by the small of her back with both his large hands.
Alexa shrugged playfully before replying.
“I guess you can thank your company’s elevator for it…” she teased.
“Oh, actually come to think of it, I do have something to ask you…” Alexa surprised him as she suddenly changed the subject to something completely different.
“Is there somewhere nearby that we could go to get a bite to eat? I’m absolutely starving! Seriously, I feel like this baby and I are wasting away to nothing.”
Throwing his head back in laughter, Dante then began to speak his next words proudly.
“No need to go out for food, amore mio…” he announced, gesturing towards the doorway with his outstretched arm.
“Come, bella… your lunch awaits.”
The Don then began to lead his fiancé along by her hand as they continued down the hall towards the lower level of the mansion where the main kitchen was located.
Just in time for a late lunch.

Meanwhile, after having just arrived at a private airstrip in an expensive jet that he had owned, a bulky seven-foot monster-of-a-man stepped down the aluminium stairs one by one until his polished shoes finally hit the tarmac below.
Wearing a fabulous black and gold suit and lifting his tattooed hand up to adjust a pair of matching Louis Vuitton sunglasses, the giant figure glanced around for a moment, as if getting his bearings.
He and the group of men surrounding him then began to make their way towards the waiting SUVs parked only meters away.
“How long until we reach our destination?” he demanded in fluent Russian, and with an overly frightening and inhumanly deepened voice.
He was speaking to the slightly shorter man walking along beside him, this man was also dressed in a nice suit and pair of glasses as he fought to keep up with his boss’ long strides.
“Not long, boss. The trip should only take half an hour or so, depending on traffic in the area.” the shorter man explained, he too speaking in perfect Russian.
“And our contacts? Are they in route?” the giant queried as they finally reached the shiny SUV.
Nodding his head in response, the shorter man spoke with respect.
“Yes, boss. They are scheduled to meet up with us within the hour at our next location, as planned. I’ve already had the place scoped out prior to our arrival for any potential issues, but nothing has been sighted so far. I’ll keep the men on full alert, just in case anything comes up.”
Nodding to show his own understanding, the monster-of-a-man then climbed up into the SUV before the door was then closed promptly behind him.
His second-in-command moved around the car and got in the other side as the driver got into his driver’s seat and prepared to depart.
Within the matter of seconds all three SUVs pulled away simultaneously, traveling as a convoy along the roads as they headed towards the nearest freeway.
It appeared that the Russians had at long last arrived in New York.

Gazing out at the pristine scenery before him through the large overarching bay window located in the main kitchen, Nicola could see the graceful yet powerful ocean waves lapping up against the sandy beach’s shore as he stood by the transparent glass in silence.
The sound of chatting and laughing could be heard from behind him as he stood still, as if in some sort of a daze.
He and the others traveling with Dante and Alexa had all come down to the main kitchen and dining room for a delicious lunch which had been organised before their arrival as part of Dante’s surprise for Alexa.
As the towering second-in-command continued to enjoy the scenery, Luca, Cecilio, Carmen, Anthony, Max and Dexter sat around the large, stained oak table, each with plates of various types of fresh foods they would happily consume as their discussions continued.
Dante and Alexa, still in one another’s arms, stepped into the open plan room while smiling at everyone.
Clearly the surprise had worked; Alexa was ecstatic about it!
And noticing that they had finally come to join them, Nicola turned around to greet them.
“Ah, there they are!”
Luca called out, grinning playfully.
“We thought the two of you may have gotten yourselves lost while exploring.” Cecilio added with a keen chuckle.
“Wow, what a fantastic set up!” Alexa announced, turning to Dante.
“Did you do all this?”
His shoulders shrugged carelessly. He didn’t need to speak his answer.
Of course he had.
“So, what do you think about the place, piccollo?” Nicola queried with a smile directed at Alexa.
“Are you kidding me?” she shot back at him happily.
“This place is huge! And it has everything…”
Dante pulled out a chair for Alexa located right beside his, which of course was located at the head of the table.
Where a Don should always be seated.
And Alexa smiled her thanks as she went to sit down, cradling her belly as she slowly lowered herself onto its cushiony surface.
The entire table was beautifully decorated with a luxurious white and golden tablecloth, along with decorative golden runners down the middle of it.
Not only that, but it was also currently covered in an assortment of fresh foods, cold and hot alike.
And the mere sight of such delicious foods had Alexa’s mouth watering as her eyes scanned them from right to left.
“Eat up. There is plenty of food for everyone.” Dante announced as he took his seat at the head of the table and got comfortable.
“You joining us, Nicola?”
Turning to meet his Capo’s gaze, Nicola’s brows lifted in surprise as he spoke.
“Of course.” he agreed.
But just as he was about to make his way across towards the table, he felt the buzzing of his phone which was sitting in his jacket pocket and reached inside to find it.
Lifting it to see who had messaged him, the second-in-command’s face suddenly fell as he looked across to meet Dante’s gaze a second time.
The look he had given his Don was not a good one.
Something was wrong.
And Dante immediately noticed this, picking up his cloth napkin from his lap and placing it onto the surface of the table before he pushed his chair out and began making his way across to join Nicola.
“You’re not hungry?” Alexa queried as she watched her fiancé now leaving the table.
Dante gave her a smile.
“I won’t be a moment, bella. Please, don’t wait for me. Enjoy.” he assured her before continuing onwards to speak with Nicola in private.
And even if she felt concerned for whatever had suddenly changed the atmosphere for Dante just now, Alexa was far too hungry to care.
She quickly got stuck into the food just like everyone else was around her. Feasting on the array of fresh fruit, sandwiches, hot food and sweets.
Besides she Alexa had a reason to gorge… she was eating for two.

Once the Don and his second in command were out of earshot, Dante turned to Nicola with a serious expression upon his handsome face as he spoke.
“What is it?”
“It’s not good.”
Nicola quickly replied, checking to make sure that no one else was listening in with a quick glance around them.
“I just got word of an international jet landing at a private airstrip here in the city. Apparently, there were around twelve men seen disembarking.”
Dante’s eyes narrowed as he immediately realised that this could only mean one thing.
“It’s him… he’s here, isn’t he?” the Don spoke softly, with dread.
Nodding his head, Nicola was confirming his Capo’s unfortunate suspicions.
“Are your sources certain it’s him?” Dante challenged, just to be sure.
“Did they make a positive identification?”
Nicola sighed, wiping his hand over the length of his face in unease before he went on to explain a bit more about what he had been told in his most recent text message.
“They’re certain.”
The underboss announced solemnly.
“It’s Ivan ‘the butcher’ Volkov… he’s come here in person.”
