Oliver
I watch Sabrina's back as she walks away, knowing that once again, I'm hurting her because of my past. Eric told me that I would be sorry, and he was right. My stupid behavior has caused my mate to suffer, and it breaks my heart to see it. I turn my head back to look at Jenny standing there with tears pouring down her face.
I grab her arm and pull her to the back, where there weren't as many ears to hear. My pack doesn't need front-row seats to watch their alpha continue to make a mess of his life. Jenny looks at me with hope, and I put a frown on my face.
"Jenny, you knew from day one that our relationship was nothing but a little fun. Why would you think that I would continue to see you once I found my mate?" My frustration is coming out in my voice.
"You haven't settled for one girl at a time, so why would you settle for just your mate?" She says, sobbing into her hands.
Goddess, what in the world have I made my pack think of me? I clearly didn't make things as clear as I thought I did. If Jenny thinks this, then most of the other girls do as well. I'm going to have a complete disaster on my hands. Sabrina is going to think that I have no intentions of being faithful at this rate.
"Let me make this perfectly clear. I have no intentions of cheating on my mate. I will not now nor ever think of another woman. I'm sorry for the confusion that I caused, but Jenny you are just a pack member to me now. I can't think of you as any more than that." I finish up and walk out of the back.
Rita stands there and crooks her finger motioning for me to come to her. I know that I'm about to get an ear full. She pulls me into her office and sits down.
"I won't keep you long, because you have a mate who needs you to reassure her. Boy, you better get your head on straight. I knew you messed around, but now it seems that you have made a complete s**t storm of your life. Fix it." She puts her hand up and shoos me away.
I walk out of her office with more shame and guilt eating me alive than I ever felt possible. I wouldn't let most people talk to me like that, but Rita is like my mother and her being upset with me is killing me. I don't know how I'm going to be able to fix any of this.
I walk out to the truck and see Sabrina is sitting in there, with her head in her hands. To know that I have done something that has hurt her is eating at my very soul. I can only hope that she is still willing to give me a chance to make all this up to her.
I open the door and get into the truck and sit there. I don't say anything, and I don't move. Words escape me at the moment, and I have no idea what to do. Just as I'm about to open my mouth to speak, a mind link comes through, telling me there is was a rogue attack, and there is someone who is severely hurt.
"Sunshine, we have to go. Someone needs your help." I say, putting the truck in drive and heading to the attack. "There was a rogue attack, and someone is hurt badly." I look over at Sabrina to see her wiping her eyes nodding her head.
"I have some of what I may need in my bag. Make sure we have someone fast who can run for things that I may need." She says as she tries to get herself under control.
"Sabrina, I'm so sorry.."
"Not now, Oliver. Right now, there is a pack member who needs us. We can deal with our mess when this is over. I need to focus my mind for my power to work." She has her eyes closed, and she seems focused.
When we get to the attack area, I see that it's one of my warriors who's hurt. Sabrina runs over to him and starts looking at what happened. He has a gash across his stomach and seems to be losing a lot of blood. Sabrina pulls out some type of cloth from her bag and puts it over the gash. She applies pressure to the wound.
As she is doing this, Eva comes running up and looks to see what is going on. Sabrina tells her calmly what is going on, and Eva nods her head. Eva looks pale and as if she is about to be sick.
"You have handled something like this before, right?" Another one of the warriors asks Eva.
"No. I've only ever healed Oliver's wounds for his power and little things for the pups," Eva says, turning even paler.
"Then why were you ever named pack healer?" Someone yells.
Eva starts to have tears in her eyes, and she runs to me, wrapping her arms around me. I feel bad for her, so I give her soft pats on her back, trying to calm her down.
A light starts to appear from Sabrina's hands as she has her eyes closed and is chanting something. The light keeps getting brighter until it suddenly stops. Sabrina pulls her hands and the cloth away to reveal a fully healed stomach.
The warrior opens his eyes in shock and looks to Sabrina, who smiles at him. She looks slightly tired, but overall, there appears to be nothing wrong with her.
"You should be good as new. Come see me tomorrow so that I can recheck everything. I'll have some herbs for you then that will help with the blood loss." Sabrina stands and starts walking toward her home.
"Sabrina!" I call after her, unwrapping myself from Eva.
I run after her and try to take her hand. She pulls away and continues to walk. I frowned, knowing that she's mad at me.
"I need to walk and rebuild my strength. That was a lot of power that I used. If I slow down, I will fall into a deep sleep. I need to get to my bed first." She snaps at me. "Sorry. When I use that much energy I get ill. I shouldn't have snapped at you."
She continues to walk as fast as she can until she reaches her front door. She goes to unlock it, but her hands are shaking. I take the key and unlock the door and pick her up. Her head falls back, and I can tell she has passed out from exhaustion. I take her to the master bedroom and lay her on the bed, covering her with a blanket.
I need to go and handle the attack, so I link Lily and Gwen to come and stay with Sabrina. I've never been around a healer that is as strong as she is, so I have no idea how long she'll be out or what she'll be needing. As soon as the girls are here, I head back to the packhouse to start the investigation.
My office is already full of all the people that we will need to figure out what happened. Eric and Zach stand behind my desk, looking over video from some of our cameras. I see the warrior who was hurt, along with his partner, there with the head warrior.
"So, what do we have so far?" I ask as I take my seat.
"Jenkins and I were patrolling our section of the border when we found the scent of rogues. Before we had time to react, ten of them came barreling at us. We shifted as soon as possible and fought them off as best we could. They seem to be coming from the west." The injured warrior, who I think is named Matt, said.
"Alpha, these rogues were stronger than anything that I have ever seen. Their scent was slightly different too. They all stink, but these almost had the smell of death on them. Their eyes weren't that typical red either, they were completely white. It looked almost like they were blind, but they saw every move we made." Jenkins said, shaking his head in disbelief.
"Maybe they had been around something dead, and it changed their smell?" Zack says.
"That doesn't explain any of the other stuff. We're lucky Sabrina was here. No offense, but who told Eva that she was a healer? I have yet to see her do anything more than what your wolf could do on its own." Eric growls out.
I stop and think about what I have seen her do. Ninety-nine percent of the time, her healings turned into s*x. Was it her healing me, or was I just so into getting satisfied that I didn't notice my own healing from my wolf?
"Now that I think about it, I couldn't tell you. Today Eva showed she wasn't up to doing anything. Since the last healer passed, we haven't had anything too major, and all the new babies have been born at the human hospital. The only thing I know for sure is that Sabrina is the real deal, and she may be more powerful than any healer I have ever heard of." I say hoping Sabrina, won't give up on us. This pack needs her.
