“I have been living a life witnessing the important people in my life as they grew old and died while I am left alone to live for a century. I lived different lives with different names and I am getting tired how chaotic the world turned out to be. I have witnessed all kinds of evil deeds that is present in this world. I’ve known how people act innocent and all good in front of people but mock other’s in their mind. I have had enough of their hypocrisy.” Bryle was lost in his thoughts while sitting on his desk facing a flat screen desktop in the CEO office.
“However, it’s the first time I can’t read the thought of the woman last night,” he muttered and thought of different possible reasons. As he was thinking, his thoughts traveled to what has happened to him a thousand of years ago.
(flashback)
“He is very handsome,” the women gathered to watch the young general riding on a horse who had just returned victorious from the battle.
He is a nobleman with outstanding looks, talent and skills. He was admired by many women from different noble families but he doesn’t know how to love. He was born having no senses. He always acts cold and indifferent because he does not know how to empathize with other people’s situation. This is the life of Bryle in the past.
Eventually, his family arranged a marriage for him with a noble lady from a rich family that was rarely seen in public. There were rumors that she is ugly so she always wears a vail if it is necessary for her to be in the eyes of the public.
She is actually a beautiful woman who only prefer to stay at home. She didn’t care how other people talked about her behind her back. She only hopes to live her life simply and marry a man she truly loves.
Bryle was indifferent about the marriage but followed the arrangement of his parents. After few months of preparation, the wedding day has come. She was dressed elegantly and her face was covered fully with the wedding vail. It was supposed to be a joyous day. The bride is sitting in her room waiting for her maid who went to get the newly sewed vail she used to wear that covers half of her face. She did not know that their house was on fire. She felt the extreme heat and finally removed her wedding vail just to see the room on fire. She looked for exits to escape but was hit with a fallen wood and passed out. They finally put out the fire but their house was surrounded many royal guards. Her parents and family were accused of treason and was immediately executed.
The fire was set by the order of some noble ladies who were against the marriage. They thought that she did not deserve to be the bride of their most outstanding general.
On the other hand, Bryle’s father who is the prime minister was behind the plot of treason accused to her family. At that moment, he couldn’t feel anything even if he saw bloodshed just in front of him when he is wearing the robe supposedly for the wedding.
“They were finally wiped out. No one will be hindering my plans in making the king my puppet.” He heard her father from his parents’ room.
“You should have done it earlier, I didn’t want our son to marry that hideous woman. I was very worried about it” His mother commented.
Although he couldn’t feel anything, of course he knew what is wrong from what is right. He actually helped in framing the family without his idea that it was a plot of his father by finding fake evidences planted by his father and sending it to court. He was uneasy yet he couldn’t understand what his current emotions are. He rode his horse and went to the burnt house of his supposed to be wife. The piles of bodies he saw earlier were gone. He sat on the door for a moment and saw a vail with a daffodil that represent rebirth and new beginnings. This was the pattern on the vail that is always worn by the noble lady of that family when she goes out. It was supposed to be given to the lady but her maid was already arrested by the royal guards when she is rushing to give it to her, leaving the vail on the ground.
“I’m sorry, doom had befallen you and your family,” he couldn’t sympathize but knew he was in the wrong. The clouds began to turn dark as if it was mourning with what had happened.
“Help!” he heard a faint voice inside the mansion.
He rushed over and saw the woman wearing a wedding dress with a burnt face. She is heavily breathing and lost her life in a few moments.
He looked on the wall and saw a painting of a beautiful lady. “So, you looked like this? You have such a beautiful. It’s a pity that you died with a burnt face. I’m sorry things turned out this way,” he muttered.
There was heavy rain outside with growling thunders and lighting. He felt something that struck his body, his heart was in unbearable pain as if there were needles inside piercing him. This was the first time he felt something but it was extreme pain.
