Chapter 14

Ava's P.O.V

I couldn't hold my anger back. I screamed. I felt myself get lost in the darkness inside me. No one stopped me. Not even Zuri. She too was pissed and getting lost in the darkness. Members of the pack were coming out of their rooms to see what was happening.

I shifted to my wolf form and grabbed the blanket I wrapped my baby in last night. His scent was all over it. I sniffed it and followed his scent out of the hospital.

I think someone was calling my name, but I didn't care. All I cared about right now was getting my son back and killing whoever it was that took him. I kept my pace, sniffing every once in a while. His scent was faint, but getting stronger.

I put on more speed. I could hear howls following me. The males in my pack knew I was angry. They could feel it. I stopped and sniffed around. The scent goes two different ways.

I shifted back to my human form and muttered low under my breath. Faint images came to view in front of me. The warrior wolves came to a halt behind me and watched the scene as I did. I could see my pup being passed off to someone else. The first one who had my pup was one among my own pack. A snarl ripped through my throat. I knew exactly who that pack member was.

"Men!" I yelled. The sound of snakes could be heard in my voice. "Follow this scent! Bring my son home! And if any one of you f***s me over, you'll die!" There were whimpers from all of them. They knew not to f**k with me when I was this angry. "Kennith! Front and center!"

His wolf form stood tall in front of me before he shifted to his human self. "Yes, Luna Ava." He made sure that he kept his head low to me. He also knew not to be his usual goofy self when I used his full name.

"A traitor is in this pack. I will not have it! Bring me Shane Arlos! Now!" I could tell that my usual blue and green eyes we're not those colors by the way the pack members in front of me were acting. They must have been blood red, assign that the darkness in me was growing and taking control.

Ken nodded and took off to find the rat named Shane. I shifted back to my wolf form, taking off towards my son's scent.

Many of my warriors followed me, but some were too afraid to leave the territory. I didn't blame them. Most of them came to my pack seeking a safe home for their pups and mates.

I kept following his scent all the way to that same little house I set fire to those hunters. They had cleaned up since then, but today there was going to be more dead bodies lying in the place of the previous ones. I didn't bother with giving orders. The warriors knew what we were here for. My son.

I smashed the door open, growling so harshly that I thought I was going to make my throat bleed. Foam dripped from my mouth as the hunters stared at me in shock. I stopped forward, eyes darting around. There were 10 hunters here, but none of them had my son. I could smell him somewhere in this house.

"Why do you come here, Mutt!" A large man stood from a chair. He had a gun in his hand. He was ready to shoot if I made a move at him or anyone in this house.

I shifted to my human self, my blood red eyes glowing even though the sun was high. "Where is he!" I yelled, the sound of snakes, still clear in my voice.

"Where is who?" The man smirked. He knew exactly who I was talking about. I snarled at him. He laughed. "Oh, you must be talking about the baby we took from you. Yes. We have him."

"Give him to me! Now!" My growls were threatening. I could see some of the hunters fidgeting. They wanted to run away.

"That's not going to happen, mutt. You see, you have something that is mine, and I want it back.".

"I have nothing of yours!"

"Oh, but you do. See, I took, have a child. However, you took that child from me. She is mine and I want her back. See, she's very special, and I don't think you understand that very well."

Who was this piece of s**t talking about? I have never taken a child from him. I narrowed my eyes at him. "I repeat, I have nothing of yours!"

He scowled at me. "You call her Isabella. She is mine! Return her, or your son dies!" He yelled.

From the corner of my eye, I saw a woman come out of a room holding my son as well as a gun to his tiny head. That alone sent my blood boiling in my veins. "How could she possibly be yours? She's a werewolf!" I yelled.

He laughed. "I am too! She is simply alive because I needed something to take my frustration out on. Since my sister died, that is."

I wanted to gag. This Hunter is f*****g disgusting! He had gotten a woman pregnant with his child just so he could-- I couldn't hold back the file that Rose in my throat, and threw up all over the floor. When I caught my breath again, I wiped my mouth and looked up at him. " That's f*****g disgusting." I muttered.

"No. What's discussing is the fact that I was born with this thing inside me. However, I found a way to remove it and fully be human!" He burst into laughter.

'I swear, he's lost his marbles.' I thought. "Give me my son!" I growled.

His laughter stopped and he looked dead at me. "Give me my toy, and you'll have your son back."

"Why should I give her back to you? You're just going to hurt her more than you already have. Your people already gave her STDs!"

His face turned dark. "They did what?" I could hear a faint growl in his voice.

"You heard me." I retorted.

"You tell lies! They knew not to touch her! She's mine!" The growls in his voice became clearer.

"Doc!" I yelled. A moment later, he walked in and stood behind me. " Doc here, is the one who ran the tests on her." I let doc take over after saying; "he doesn't speak, by the way. So, hope someone understands sign language."

Doc quickly got to signing what he found out during the tests he ran on Isabella. It seemed like this was going on for hours when finally, the hunter fully growled. "You sons of f*****g bitches! Give her the child! I could care less now that my toy has been ruined by you people!"

Quickly, I ran and grabbed my baby from the woman holding him. "Kill them all." I linked my pack members.

It's been about a week since that day. My eyes remain blood red and I refuse to allow anyone around Isabella or Remus. I hardly slept and when I did. Zuri took over. Anytime anyone got near me or my pups. Zuri would take over and attack. Henry had to take on the workload of being the alpha and Luna because I attack to Levi for getting too close.

"Ava." I heard my mother slowly getting closer. I growled out her, making her stop where she was. She held up her hands, showing me that she meant no harm in her approach. However, that didn't mean anything to me. "Ava, my sweet little girl." She paused and lowered her hands to her sides. "Come back to me, Ava. I need you here with me." She begged me, but I responded with a harsh growl. "Please, Ava. I want my daughter to come back into the light. I don't want to lose you again."

I could see the tears in her eyes, but all I could think about was those hunters coming back and taking my pups away from me again. "What do I do, Zuri?" I asked her in our link.

"Keep everyone away from our pups! Everyone is out to kill them!" She growled back at me. Zuri surged forward, taking over our body and growling like a feral beast at our mother.

"Zuri, please give Ava back to me." I could see mom's wolf, Snowflake trying to take over her body, but she was fighting Snowflake.

Zuri didn't bother with words, she just shifted and lunged at mom.

Penelope's P.O.V

"Zuri, please give Ava back to me." I begged again.

"Let me out! I'll show our pup who's stronger!" Snow yelled, surging forward. I thought with her to stay back. I didn't want to have to hurt my own daughter if I didn't have to.

I could see that Zuri was preparing to attack. She must have noticed that I was slowly getting closer to her and Remus. I watched as she shifted and lunged at me. I put my arms up to block my face and neck. "Zuri! Ava! Please! I just want you both to come back to me!" I cried out as Zuri tore into my arms with her claws and fangs.

No matter how much I begged and pleaded with her, she wouldn't listen to me. Just as I was about to give up and fight back instead of just defend, I felt Death open a link to me. "I've found him! I have Shane Arlos!" He yelled.

I didn't bother responding to him. I knew he could feel that I was in a fight. "Ava! Zuri! Your father has Shane! He's going to bring him to you!" I yelled over her growls.

She stopped suddenly and glared at me. "You better not be lying to me, mother." Zuri's growls entered my mind.

I shook my head. " Your father just linked me. You can ask him yourself if you want. "

I watch does her eyes clouded over. She was talking to Death now. Good. Now hopefully, this brings Ava back to the light. Her being in the darkness this long, wasn't good for her or anyone around her.

"Bring him to the pack house." She growled.

I sat up when she got off me. It felt nice not to have her pinning me down, but I was still worried about her, Isabel and Remus. She still had those blood red eyes that scared everyone half to death. I stood up as she shifted back to human form. " Stay with Isabella and Remus. " She ordered. I shivered as her order sunk into my bones.

Ava's P.O.V

I took over from Zuri. " Stay with Isabella and Remus. " I ordered mom. I watched as she shivered. I knew that might order sunk into her bones just by the shiver. I walked to the front yard of the pack house. " Bring the traitor to me!" I yelled at dad through our link.

As if my pack could sense something was going to happen, they began gathering near. Summon windows, some standing nearby and some having to stay away to watch over the pups. I watched dad step out of the shadows holding a struggling Shane Arlos. I'm pretty sure Shane knew he f****d up. I growled harshly. He stopped struggling and Dad pushed him down to his knees. "L-Luna I--"

"Silence!" I yelled. Shane kept his head low to the ground. " You are a traitor!" He whimpered. " I will not turn you to a rogue again, however!" I paused, stepping closer to him. " Shift!" I ordered. I could tell he didn't want to, but the fact that I used my Luna command on him, forced his shift to be swift and painful. His whimpers became louder as he trembled in front of me.

"Let me perform a spell. " Zuri linked me. I granted her that want. She took over our body. She muttered a quick spell before handing control back to me. " He can't shift anymore. I put a stop to his ability to shift. He shall forever remain stuck in his wolf form. " Zuri linked.

"You have been cursed by my wolf, traitor. Now, I shall punish you as well. Beta Henry!" I paused and waited for Henry to stand beside me. " The collar. " I held my hand out to Henry. Henry placed in my hand and I clipped it around Shane's neck. " From now until your natural death, you are the packs dog. Any aggressive behavior, will warrant punishment. Leave my sight, traitor. "

I watched as he walked away with his head low and his tail tucked between his hind legs. " What should I do with his belongings, luna?" Henry asked.

"They're up for grabs. Whoever wants it, can have it. Oh and, his name is traitor. " I felt like I was being too cold to him, but Zuri assured me that he deserved it.

As I turn to walk back to my babies, I was stopped short by Levi's strong chest. He wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into a tight hug. " Well done, Ava. Will you go back to being you now?" Levi asked.

I couldn't help but giggle. "Yes. I'm sure I will. I'm already feeling a whole lot better. " I looked up at Levi and smiled. His eyes grew bright when he looked at me. I guess my eyes were going back to normal now that traitor was found and dealt with.

Since that day, I started to keep a close eye on the newest members and made sure that they were the best fit for my pack. I was now back to my usual self. My eyes had returned to their normal green and blue. I did still feel the darkness inside me still lingering close, but I managed to keep it at Bay with the help of my family.

Sitting in my office doing paperwork, suddenly, the door was thrown open. In the doorway stood Henry, clutching Remus and Isabel. I furrowed my brow at his panicked look. "Luna we are under attack! Hunters are taking down the patrols one by one as we speak. Luna, I need to get you and the pups to safety!" Henry was already forcing me to stand.

"Beta Henry! I do not hide while my pack is under attack! Get Remus and Isabel to my mother. She will take them to the bunker where they will be safe. I am going to fight. "

With that said, I shifted and took off toward the fight. " Luna!" I heard Ken yell in the pack link. "East border is overrun. West border is barely keeping them at bay. North border has no response, Alpha is on his way there now. South border reports no change. "

I halted in my tracks. Was this it? Was this the war? Would this be my last day? No. I shook those thoughts away and opened my link with Zuri. " Z, what do you think we should do?"

"Get to the center of the territory. We have a spell to perform." Zuri growled in my head.

The center of my territory wasn't somewhere easy to get to. It was actually in the living room of Henry's home. I kick the door open and stood in my human form in the living room. "Are you ready?" I asked Zuri.

"Without a doubt!" She growled.

I allowed Zuri to take control of our body alongside of me. It hurt, but it was the only way to perform the spell. This wasn't just an ordinary spell. This was in fact the most painful, strongest and deadliest spell Zuri and I had. This spell was in fact, written on our brain and heart. I only knew half of the spell and Zuri, knew the other half.

"Sacificabo cor meum. Immolabo animal meam. Sacificabo corpus meum. Tibi fortitudinem meam do mea potentia omnes me! I yelled as loud as I could.

"Dabo sapientiam meam. Ego dabo meam potestatem. I vitam dane!" Zuri yelled as loud as she could.

"Ego sacrificium omnia tibi accipere ea c*m gratia. Nunc pugnare! Zuri and I screamed together.

At that moment, I felt as if my body was being torn in millions of directions. I couldn't help but scream in pain. Zuri screamed with me. My knees dropped out from under me and I hit the ground with a thud. Everything was fuzzy. Everything hurt like hell. I felt like I couldn't breathe anymore. My heart pounded in my chest. Was this what it felt like to die?

Unknown P.O.V

I don't know what exactly happened, but one moment I was getting beaten down by hunters the next, I had this amazing strength and power. I was very fast, when I wasn't just a moment ago. This had to be the work of our Luna. As scary as she was, she was also kind, and brave and fun. I fought with more ferocity than before. I could see others around me also became stronger, faster, some even became more witted. This was definitely our Luna.

I fought alongside beta Henry. I could tell he was hiding that he was in a lot of pain. I had heard rumors that beta Henry and Luna Ava had an extremely rare Bond that may never be seen again, but at that time, I didn't believe it. If someone were to ask me now, I would tell them that it's no lie or joke. That bond is real and very, very strong.

I kept on beta Henry 6. Even though he too, got what the Luna gave us, his pain from her was too great. I was beginning to worry now, he was coughing up blood, but he didn't have injuries. I opened my link to him only. I didn't need everyone in the pack worrying about beta Henry or luna Ava. " Go to her! I can see the pain you are in! I've got things here, sir!"

He didn't respond, but I did see him take off toward what seemed to be the pack house.

Henry's P.O.V.

I ran as fast as I could. She was somewhere toward the pack house, but not at the same time. I opened my link to her, but there was nothing.

Pushing myself to go faster, I catch her scent. It wasn't going toward the pack house, instead it was going toward my house. This was strange. Why was she in my house during a battle? I walked carefully and quickly. No one seemed to be here but myself and Ava. Stepping into the living room, I see Ava on the floor. There was blood on her lips and trailing down her cheeks.

I shifted and quickly picked her up into my lap. "Ava? Ava, wake up!" I gently tapped her cheek. She didn't move. She was cold to the touch. That was never a good sign. "Ave, please! Wake up!" I yelled, shaking her. I laid her down and listened for breath or a heartbeat. I waited and waited, but there was nothing. No breathing, no heartbeats.

At that moment, I finally realized I no longer felt anything from our bond. "Moon Goddess, if you can hear me, please bring Ava back. Isabella and Remus still need her. Levi needs her." Tears rolled down my cheeks. "Please, my Goddess. I still need her!" I begged the Goddess.

It seemed like hours that laid there crying and praying, when finally, I heard a voice. "Beta Henry," she called. I looked over to her. She was still as beautiful as ever. "I hear you. Your prayers are full of emotion and very loud. I know she is needed. This spell is temporary. The true spell that ends her life hasn't shown up yet on her body or soul." I looked at her with my brow furrowed. She smiled and gently touched my cheek. "She is in a practice state of death. She is in fact, still alive."

My heart skipped a beat. Ava was alive! "I'm not going to tell her. I'm sorry, my Goddess, but I will be lying to her."

"Oh, Henry. You can't lie to her. The bond you two share, she will feel your guilt about lying to her. It is best to tell the truth."

She was right. There was nothing I could do that Ava wouldn't feel. She even knew when I was mating with my mate. "I feel like I'm supposed to do more for her. Goddess, what am I even here for?"

"You are her protector. You take her place when she needs you to. You bring her back when she's gone too far into the darkness. You set her back when she goes too far into the light. You give her strength, even when you feel you don't have any. She's brave, but without you, she would be merely a Rogue. As well as the others in Dusk Pack." She paused, wiping my stray tears away. "She needs you more than anyone in this pack."

I closed my eyes and opened them, facing Ava. Her skin was pale and her lips were blue. She didn't look at all like she was still alive. "But she has--" I looked up, but the Goddess was gone. Like she had never been there at all.

I called on my wolf for his hearing. The sounds of battle were dwindling down to the last few remaining. It wouldn't be long now before it was over and news about Ava would spread like wildfire. How she almost killed herself, letting the pack have every ounce of her strength. At least this time, she didn't die. I can't say anything about next time though. Next time could be the spell that takes her life.

The chaos of battle quieted down to silence. Any moment now, Ava should wake up. I could feel a tugging in my mind, someone was trying to link me. I didn't bother with it. I just held onto Ava. She was still cold., But I could feel that there was warmth starting up deep inside her chest.

I held her close, trying to push that warmth to grow. "Come on, Ava. Come back to us." I whispered. "Come back to me. I need you. I don't know if I could live without you here." Tears burned the back of my eyes again. I could hear Kane whimpering and feel him pacing inside my mind. "Do you feel anything, Kane?" I asked him.

"No." He whimpered.

Ava's P.O.V

I felt cold for so long. I couldn't feel Zuri or even connect to her through our link. Was I dead? Was this all I was meant to do? Why hadn't dad come to get me yet? Was he still in the battle? What time was it? How long have I been like this for?

These questions consumed me, throwing me deeper into this cold abyss. "Big brother." I thought. "I need him. I feel so alone."

"Come back to me." I heard a faint voice echo.

"Who was that?" I thought.

"I need you." They said.

I tried to open my eyes, but it felt like they were glued shut. "Who are you?" I thought.

"I don't know if I could live without you here." They said, sobs coming out after.

I felt something spark inside my chest. It was warm. I clung to myself, urging the warmth to grow and spread. I could hear a sound, but I couldn't quite make it out.

As it grew louder, I wracked my brain to remember where I heard it from. Remember damn it! I thought harder, pushing myself to remember. Suddenly, flashes passed through my mind. I remembered! The sound I was hearing was Henry and Kane crying. The sound alone made me want to cry. I needed him, and he needed me.

I forced my eyes open and gasped for air. "Ava!" Henry's voice hit my ears. I blinked a few times to clear my vision. "Oh Goddess! I'm so happy you came back to me!" He hugged me and kissed my head.

"What happened? How am I still alive? How did I hear you in the cold abyss?" I asked as I wrapped my arms around him. I felt I needed to hold him and not let go for a while.

"You did a spell. It gave all of the fighters in the pack strength, speed and wisdom. However, it was only a practice spell. It was like it was preparing you for the true spell. As for that cold abyss, I'm not sure. I just know that I wanted you back here with me more than anything else in the world. Henry explained.

I didn't say anything back. I just held him. I could feel that he was starting to call down. This was good. Henry must have felt that I was calming down as well. At this moment, I just sat in his lap and held him, letting our bond speak for me. Henry seemed to be doing to same thing.
