CHAPTER 29Before checking out of the hotel, Bannister changed his return flight to 11:00 p.m. so he could spend more time with Madison. He finally returned Witt’s numerous calls. Fortunately, he got his voicemail and left a message he’d be on a red-eye flight and would see him in the morning.
Bannister picked Madison up at the agreed-upon time and let her give him directions to the hospital as he drove. She wanted to review the program for her mother’s memorial service. He didn’t ask any questions but merely listened. She was calm and had a handle on the details.
