The Ultimatum

Annie's eyes blazed as she stood with her arms crossed. "What do you want, Joshua?" Joshua gestured to the couch, a smile spreading across his face. "Sit down, have a drink. Let's talk." Annie's laugh was a harsh, mocking sound. "You think I'm just going to sit down and chat with you?" She shook her head. "I don't have time for that." Joshua's smile faltered, and he took a step forward. "Annie, please..." "I have more important things to do," Annie cut in, her voice rising. "So, what do you want?" Joshua's eyes pleaded as he took another step forward. "I need you, Annie. I need you to come back to me." Annie's expression didn't change, but her voice took on a harder edge. "I'm done, Josh. I told you I was done, and I meant it." Joshua's face fell, and he reached out to Annie. "I love you, Annie. Don't do this." Annie's eyes flashed with anger, and she took a step back. "You love me?" she repeated, her voice dripping with disdain. "You love me, but you're still married. "You love me, but you only want me on your terms." Joshua's eyes dropped, and he took a deep breath before speaking. "Annie, I..." "No, Josh," Annie cut in, her voice firm. "Loving me isn't enough." If you really want me and love me just like you said, you need to prove to me that I am worth more than just a secret affair, more than just a convenient mistress. I'm not some...thing you can use whenever you want. I'm not a toy you can play with when you're bored or when you feel like having fun. I am not a fantasy. If you want me, earn me. Until then, we're done." With that, Annie turned and walked away, not giving Joshua another chance to say anything. It was a week already and Joshua had earnestly been thinking about the way things went between him and Annie last time, and he hadn't heard from her in a week, because Annie had refused to take his call or see him. So that afternoon, he decided to try his luck again and call her. He wasn't ready to lose her and neither did he want the break-up. Luckily for him, this time, Annie answered. Hello Annie, how are you? He asked softly. Annie, at the other end of the phone, paused a bit before responding," I'm good josh, how about you? "I'm just doing fine, can I see you?"he pleaded. Annie hesitated for a while, then she said okay and went to meet Joshua at his house. On seeing Annie, Joshua let out a huge smile as she walked into the sitting room. What is it again this time? She asked while sitting down on the sofa. I made it clear last time that we were done. Unless you are ready to be well committed to us, I can't continue to be your Mistress. If you don't value me, I deserve to feel loved, valued, important and respected. Joshua's eyes snapped at Annie's, a mixture of desperation and determination burning in them. He moved closer to her on the sofa, his voice low and urgent. "Annie, please listen to me. I know I've hurt you, and I'm sorry. But I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it right. I'll leave my wife. I'll give you everything you want. Just don't walk away from me." Annie's expression didn't waver, but a faint glimmer of uncertainty flickered in her eyes. She seemed to be wavering, and Joshua sensed his chance. He reached out and grasped her arm, his fingers wrapping around her wrist like a vice. "Annie, don't go," he whispered, his breath hot against her ear. I'll do anything. Just don't leave me again. Annie's eyes flashed with desire and anger at the same time, and she tried to shake off Joshua's grip. But he held her tight, his fingers digging deep into her skin. For a moment, they sat there, locked in a silent struggle. And then, he held her tight, closer to him, his eyes burning with a fierce intensity. Annie's eyes locked onto Joshua's, her gaze faltering for a moment as she felt the familiar spark of attraction. She tried to push him away, but her hands seemed to move of their own accord, her fingers curling around his arms instead of pushing him away. Joshua's eyes seemed to gleam with triumph as he pulled her closer, his lips brushing against her ear. Annie's breath caught in her throat as she felt his warm breath on her skin, sending shivers down her spine. Her head tilted back, her eyes drifting closed as Joshua's lips trailed down her neck. She felt her resolve weakening, her body responding to his touch despite her mind's protests. Joshua's hands slid down her back, pulling her closer as he deepened the kiss. Annie's lips parted, her tongue tangling with his as she felt herself getting lost in the familiar sensation of his touch. For a moment, everything else faded away, and all that was left was the two of them, lost in the heat of their passion. As they sat there, wrapped in each other's arms, the tension between them was palpable. Joshua's eyes burned with a fierce intensity, his gaze devouring Annie's face as if he couldn't get enough of her. Annie's eyes, too, shone with a deep emotion, her pupils dilating as she gazed at Joshua. She felt like she was drowning in the depths of his eyes, like she was being pulled under by a riptide of desire. Joshua's hands roamed over her body, his fingers tracing the curves of her waist, the swell of her hips. Annie's breath caught in her throat as he touched her, her skin tingling with pleasure. "You're my wife," Joshua whispered, his lips brushing against her ear. "You're the one I want to wake up to every morning, the one I want to fall asleep with every night." Annie's eyes flashed with surprise, but Joshua just smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "You know it's true," he said, his voice low and husky. You're the one I love, Annie. Not Jane. Never Jane." Annie's face softened, her expression melting into one of tender vulnerability. She reached up, her hand cupping Joshua's cheek, her thumb tracing the line of his jaw. "I know," she whispered, her voice barely audible. I know you love me, Joshua. And I love you too. Joshua's eyes flashed with triumph, his arms tightening around Annie as he pulled her closer. For a moment, they just sat there, wrapped in each other's arms, the world around them melting away. But then, reality intruded, and Annie's eyes clouded over, her expression turning serious. "We can't do this, Joshua," she said, her voice firm. " We can't just ignore the fact that you're married, that you have a wife who expects you to come home to her every night, and I can't be your hidden Mistress forever. Although Annie knew what she wanted and what her chances with Joshua were, each time she broke up with him, she still found herself creeping back to him. The love between them was just something else. This made her a bit confused, her desire confusing her needs. Joshua's face fell, his eyes dropping to the floor. Annie's words were like a splash of cold water, reminding him of the complicated web of relationships that bound him. But even as he felt the weight of his responsibilities, Joshua couldn't shake the feeling that Annie was the one he was meant to be with, that she was the one who truly understood him. Annie's eyes seemed to bore into Joshua's soul, as if she could see the turmoil brewing inside him. "You remember that time you wanted to divorce Jane and marry me?" she asked, her voice low and husky. Joshua's eyes snapped back up to Annie's, a look of surprise crossing his face. "How could I forget?" he replied, his voice barely above a whisper. Annie's lips curled into a wry smile. "I talked you out of it, remember? I told you it was a stupid idea, that it would ruin your reputation and jeopardize your business." Joshua nodded, his eyes clouding over with memories. "You were right, of course," he said, his voice laced with regret.I was blinded by my feelings for you." I didn't think about the consequences." Annie's expression softened, her eyes filling with compassion. "I know you didn't," she said, her voice gentle. But that's exactly why we can't be together, Joshua. You're married, and you have obligations to your wife and your business. I won't be the one to come between you and your responsibilities." Joshua's face twisted in anguish, his eyes pleading with Annie to understand. "But what about us?" he asked, his voice cracking with emotion. "What about the way we feel about each other?" Annie's expression remained firm, but her voice trembled slightly. "I know how we feel, Joshua. But sometimes, love isn't enough. Sometimes, we have to make sacrifices for the people we care about."
