Chapter 9

"It seems we are lost Jen" yelled Chris under the rain, so I could hear him talk.

"What are we going to do?" I yelled back loudly

"I actually don't know, let's just keep moving surely we would find someone or a place!"

"Okay" I replied back.

We kept walking and running through the muddy soil for what seemed like long hours. The rain fell had relentlessly against our body, soaking our clothes and hair , I feel myself catching a cold with the way my body kept o shivering and my teeth shaking loudly in my mouth. Each step I took my feet kept sinking into the mud making me loose balance each time I tried to walk, Christopher was the only one keeping me from falling.

"You have to be strong jenny okay!" He encouraged me as we tried finding our way together.

I nodded at him in response “I wonder where Nina and Thomas are now we and how far or close we may be from the others!” I said worriedly. The last thing I want is to get lost in a country that I am not not from.

“Me too” he said.

While we kept on walking using the almost dead torchlight that was given to us by Sir Gregory to find some woods. I stopped dead on my track when my torchlight pointed at two pair of green eyes starring directly at me.

An animal in the woods????

Christopher walked up to me, shaking me a bit with his hands. "Keep moving Jennifer, why did you st..."

Now he also got the message. I wasn’t the only one that saw that Chris did too.

As if the animal heard my thought it growled loudly.

"Run!" Screamed Christopher

Survival instinct surged deep inside me. Taking fast on my heels I ran as fast as I could to no where in particular but at least far from the animal that was chasing after us with Chris by my side. While running I bumped hard into a tree and fell flat on the floor.

“Ouch!” I groaned in pain.

Chris quickly picked me up from the muddy soil “Sorry Jennifer. Get up! Before we get killed”

Remembering that I had something more painful and dangerous behind him I quickly stood up taking his hands as we both ran faster together hand in hand.

Whatever was chasing us was closely behind us, making weird noises.

Lord help us, help us

I was chanting that in my mind,my prayers was answered, when I saw a thatched wood house building show at a distance. Chris saw it too and that heightened both our needs to be safe, now we know we had a destination.

But that dangerous animal was still right behind our heels, it kept growling and howling like it was trying to signal the others that they've found dinner. Chris suddenly stopped running, he just halted his stepped and that made me to do the same.

"What are you doing Chris, why are you stopping?"

"I need to slow that animal down so you could make it in safe and sound!"

"You have gone bananas, what about you?"

"What about me?" He replies stupidly.

"You are not trying to get yourself killed ,are you!?"

Chris laughed at my comment "I wouldn't even dare, keep on running till you get inside that building, I would meet you in there"

"Promise?" I asked him nervously, I can't actually believe he plans on killing himself, making my safety his priority while he endangers himself.

"I promise" he said, just then there was a loud howling, that animal had gotten closer to us. "Now run Jennifer!"

I did as I was told without looking back. Maybe I would find someone there that can help us.

"Arrrg" Chris grunted, it seems the animal finally got to him.

Oh God!

Everyone outside Mr Davis mansion was putting on a raincoat as they all entered the woods to search for Christopher and Jennifer. Miss Lauretta wasn’t having a bit of it happily as she screamed out in disappointment and anger on both Mr James and Gregory. Juliana another hot cup of tea on her own kept on throwing tantrums like a simp from time to time making sure everyone heard her and she also kept on blaming iur lecturers for everything.

"Lilian you better pray Chris makes it alive. I don't care about that snitch of your friend but you all better pray Chris is alright"

Ever since Chris and Jennifer disappeared we have been Trying to search for them, but the rain wasn't helping at all I just hope Jennifer was okay and also Chris too.

Juliana still kept on wailing and crying like we kidnapped Chris and had it all planned out, giving us all an earful, like it wasn't enough for her she called out the attention of miss Lauretta.

"It’s all because of this trip that’s why Chris is missing "

"If anything happen to Chris, I swear Lilian your friend won't make it out of this campus alive." She threatened

I mimicked her words with my mouth without voicing it out just to piss her off. Juliana feels so proud and disrespectful to talk to her elders just the way he wishes to because she knows they can’t do anything. After all her father and Chris’s were the most influential families contributing to the university.

"Oh my love, where could you be right now, I hope my love is able to send warmth to you in this very cold weather wherever you are right now. Don't worry your baby would surely find you" she said sadly

What a freak!

"I told you! I told you all! I should have been the one to go with Chris. At least if anything should happen it should be the both of us in it. But you didn't listen Mr Gregory you sent Jennifer that thief after him! I blame you, I blame you all!" She cried.

Almost everyone ignored her because of her stupid attitude, while Sir Gregory and the others worked on tracking Jennifer and Chris.

"Juliana if you have forgotten, Jennifer is not a thief but a person okay! I don’t understand why you keep calling her bad names insecure sh*t! " I yelled at her.

"A person could still be a thief and she is with my man moron!" she yelled back at me.

If I was glad about one thing. It would be the fact that Jennifer Is alone with her crush, I just hope he doesn’t take advantage of her and they both will be fine.

"Then you are a thief too" I retorted. She just gaped at me, walking closer to me for a fight while her mouth quaking to say more word.

‘Just touch me Juliana that’s all I need to punch you hard’ I begged inwardly

"Could you both just please stop with your stupid fights, we are looking for people with lives here, and just argument is doing nothing to help out with it, if you could just save your strength and voice I am sure you both could use it right to call Chris!" yelled Josh angrily

"And Jennifer too" added Thomas.

"Chris!" He called out again

"Jennifer!" I and Thomas said back at him. Obvious looking for my friend.

We all kept calling out their names, waiting for the looser at the other end. Under the heavy rainfall, praying they could at least hear us and come out from wherever they are, which I actually can't even lay a finger on. What could be happening.

"His dad won't like to hear this!" Wailed Juliana.

"Shut up!" Everyone yelled at her

She held unto her chest as she watched us all with surprise obviously feeling attacked.

I was fast on my foot, I ran as fast as I could with my wobbling legs without looking back till I got to see the building, then I stopped and stared back only to realise I was a bit far from the forest. My heart was beating so fast and my ears was ringing a loud piercing sound that I couldn't stop, my breathing was laboured, I couldn't just stop thinking about Chris.

Did he make it ?

I walked on the steps to the thatched house, knocking rapidly on the door and calling out for someone, but I got no response then I tried twisting the door knob to open but it was to no

avail. I twisted again a little harder and pushed finally, when I did it opened and what I saw was abrupt darkness. But out of fear from the outer world and the animal chasing after us I stepped in.

Immediately my legs made contact with the wooden floor it creaked making a scary noise in the quiet house. Each stepped I took kept on making an eerie noise in the house, I needed to find something to lighten the house one way or the other since I lost my torchlight in the run, I had no idea what content this house could hold.

I waved my hands through every path of the house as I walked, trying to make contact with anything solid, just then there was a great lightening illuminating a dark tall big figure from the window I never knew existed, I shrieked so loud that if only my voice could wake the dead right now it will.

I had no idea of where to run to, I just had to hide. Just then hard warm palm closed my mouth to prevent any sound from making out. I wriggled and tried to break free from the hard body behind me, quickly the person behind me leaned into my ear.

"Shhh Jennifer its me"

I gasped, breaking out of his hold when he let me go "Chris? Youare alive Chris you made it, how?" I was so happy that i clung to him desperately, soon I started crying "I thought I had lost you" I said through desperate hiccups.

"Its alright, calm down Jennifer, you are just scared and terrified from all that happened"

I still didn't say a word I just continued to hold him tightly. What was I even thinking when I had realised that I was still clinging to him I laughed and pulled back.

"Yeah you are right I’m sorry"

"Its all right, now let's see how we could lighten up this place" he switched on his torch light, but it kept going on and off. Due to the water it sustained I am sure it wouldn't last long.

We used his torchlight to check for anything through the dim lighted area, finally I found a box of candle and Chris brought out a lighter. I placed the candle in different areas of the house while Chris lit them up one by one.

"Finally we have a manageable source of light" I said while trying to observe my surrounding, everything I saw was scary. Lion skin, tiger skin, a cow head, different horns, fake rubber snakes and guns on the wall"Jesus what's this place?" I whispered

"It looks like an hunters house, look that's the dog!"

Dog?

"What dog?" I asked while he pointed to a portrait in front of me. A man with two big dogs, they almost looked like wolves If you are not careful.

"You once asked me how I survived, well that was what was chasing us in the woods"

I started laughing historically"Wait, hold on. You mean that it was those dogs that was chasing us all along and not wolves or wild animals or something!"

"Yes"

"How did you know?"

"I suspected it, wasn't that sure so I told you to go on while I'd confirm"

"So you kept yourself in the danger line just so you could test your therapy?"

He laughed at me "It wasn't really a therapy test, it was more like a confirmation test" he chuckled

"So where are the dogs now. Maybe the owner of this house is right here"

"I have no idea where the dogs are for now. They just wanted to play with us in the rain, giving us a chase when you left, immediately I turned back they pounced on me and started licking my face, I threw a stick in the air for them to catch after then I doubt I saw them any more when coming back here."

"You are really something Chris"

"Of course I am and I could be something more too" he winked at me.

That sent chill inside my body. I didn't actually know I shivered outwardly too.

"You are cold?"

I just stared back at him

"Of course you would be, you just ran outside the rain for hours or so, let's see if I could get you something to keep us warm"

Us?

"Yeah this will do" he said passing me a very long coat that looked like it was cut from a zebra skin"

I took the coat awkwardly from him, while inspecting it "Thanks"

"It won't bite you" he said gesturing at the coat "Because you are acting like it going to wake up and get you any moment from now, which we both know ain't possible"

I kept quiet, while biting my lips so hard in embarrassment.

"Stop" he said almost in a whisper but I heard him anyway.

"Stop what?" I asked innocently while blinking my eyes, my latches fluttering in the process.

"Your lips, you are going to peel them off if you get biting them that way"

"Oh! Okay" I said while removing it in a pop, pouting my lips

He just groaned and left me, wandering around.

Do I have an effect on him?

"What are you up to?" I asked while walking behind me.

"Something that we could lie on"

I nodded my head while I joined him in the search. Finally he found a big blanket which was tucked in one of the cupboards, and laid it down on the wooden surface.

The room was still very cold, I kept coughing time to time. I gathered the candle a little bit closer to the blanket so they could at least provide a little warmth but at a distance, just to avoid a fire accident.

I held my coat closer to my body but the cold won't stop. I kept shivering time to time.

"You need to remove those wet cloths from your body if not you would be cold all through the night" Chris said while removing his clothing's. I shrieked and turned the other way so I couldn't see him.

His deep throaty laugh filled the silent house "Don't tell me this is your first time seeing a man undress" he asked me jokingly but I could hear the curiosity in his voice.

I blushed pink,thank God he couldn't see me "O-of CC-ourse I have seen a man undress before"

"Then look at me" he dared.

I love challenges, so I slowly turned to look at him just so I could make a point. What I saw made me drop my mouth open. He was topless and even his crazy jean trousers was gone, he was left only with his boxers on.

"You like what you see?" he questioned mockingly. "Now its your turn to remove your cloths, I don't want to have a dead body by my side tomorrow morning" he said quickly before turning his back to me so I could undress.

Good boy, he has manners after all

I slowly removed my boots, wet trousers, polo top and jacket but I left my undergarments on. After then I quickly put on the coat I was given by Chris and wrapped it around my body.

"You can turn back now Chris" and he did as I told him but I felt tingles as I watched him scan my body from head to toe.

"Not bad, but it would had been better if you were without those coat, come sit" he said, taping on the space that was left on the big blanket.

I sat down, creating a very noticeable distance between us. If Chris noticed he kept quiet, I wondered if he wasn't cold at all because he had nothing to wrap himself with.

"Ain't you cold at all" I asked him softly.

He rubbed his palm vigorously together "If I tell you I am not, I’m actually lying" he said coughing in between.

God I felt guilty right now just thinking about my well being and forgetting about him, "Do you want us to share the coat, its big enough for two anyway" I blurted out before I could take it away.

Chris stared at me for a while, his deep blue orbs penetrating. "Sure" he said moving closer to me, before removing the other side of the coat from my body.

He sat still staring hard at my half naked self before joining in and wrapping his hands around me. I wanted to run away from his hold or push him away but I was immobile, I couldn't say a word or actually do a thing. It was just so warm and relaxing so I let him.

"You know your lips are beautiful" he said suddenly after we were both quite for long minutes.

Woah.. Wow

"Huh... Tt-h-anks"

"You are welcome" he said pushing himself further inside the coat, holding my waist tighter while his breath fanned my face, after then he slowly brought his head down on my neck. Pecking me lightly on my neck.

I stiffened i couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t speak, I couldn’t think.

What Is Chris doing to me?

He brought his face closer to mine starring down at me intently, a noticeable devilish smile on his face.

Every contact he made with my skin burned, my waist, my neck, my face and underneath my abdomen too.

"You know they are some other ways I could make us both warm.. Hot if needed too" he winked at me

How could I forget he was a devil too. He wasn't called horny bear for no reason. How could I be so ignorant to get so close with him.

"I want to kiss you Jennifer, don't be shy you would like it.. Love too if you let it flow"
