"Did you just slap me?" asked Lilian with furry written all over her face

"Yes I did and I will again if you dare say Shitty words again about me and Juliana!"

Lillian raked her hands through her hair furiously and the next minute she was on Rita pulling out her hair with both hands angrily.

Rita screamed and also yanked on Lillian's hair. They were both screaming as they fought spinning around while they rained curses and hit each other really hard.

This is not funny Lilian was in a fight with Rita all because of me, I couldn't let that happen and just watch , I had to stop them, just when I was about to do something it was like other students sensed my motives they quickly stepped in front of me, blocking my view of Lilian, I tried to fight my way to get some help just then few girls were holding me down so I couldn't move an inch, and Juliana was among the girls.

Am ugly, bitchy, dark soul witch.... Juliana the reason behind all of this!

"What's going on here!!!"

You don't have to ask who just spoke by the sound of her voice you would know, Juliana and the other girls holding me down quickly dropped me and ran off before they could expose their view.

I just tumbled to the floor, seeing the crowd giving way and finding Rita on top of Lilian with both their hairs tangled in each others fist.

"The both of you, stand up and follow me into my office now!" Barked miss Lauretta Leaving the both of them to stand on their feets.

Almost everyone had left the hall, just only few nosy students where left behind. I was scared for Lilian, scared for what was going to happen inside miss Lauretta's office.

They stayed in her office for about twenty five minutes, by the time they cane out most students had already left the hall. Rita eyes were red and puffy while Lilian was just acting casual, they were some scratches on her face, miss Lauretta was walking right behind them too angrily.

They all left the hall, Lilian didn't look at me as she left. She just walked right passed me before glancing my way.

How bad had this gone?

I was at home in my kitchen making pasta with Lilian but she wasn't talking to me, after she chopped some onions and tomatoes, she picked her mug and just faced outside the window holding it tight without sipping from it.

She had been quiet a lot after the incident in school, Collins had come home when he heard about the fight but she shunned him and told him to leave. Obviously not wanting to speak with him, I tried myself speaking with her too but she gave me the same attitude. I took it as my cue to let her be, I’m sure if she wanted to speak to me she will on her own accord, forcing her wouldn’t be a good idea. I don’t know if it was due to the fight or what Miss Lauretta must have said that might have gotten her this way. But Lilian hardly cares about what others have to say or even if something has come in the way of her mischief plans for Juliana she will always find another way to teach Juliana a good lesson. If I stood here all day trying to figure out what’s wrong with her I might just end up going to bed with a bad migraine.

I wanted to speak with her again, I am not comfortable with the silence in our little kitchen, I’m not used to it when I am around my friend but I must admit when she gets like this she's really scary, not like she gonna hurt or hit you but her calmness just screams danger. And have only seen her like this once and that was when her step mom showed up at the lodge with Lillian's stepsister.

One way or the other she was gonna loosen up and start talking, but all I needed was just to give her time.

I removed the pasta after it had gotten a bit soft and left it in a sieve to drain out the remaining water. Got out my pan and put in a little vegetable oil, opening the fridge to bring out I some vegetables from the fridge, washing the chopped carrots, green peas, farrows and sweet corn with cold running water. Draining it out with the sieve before putting the veggies on in the pan to fry a bit adding the onions, little ball pepper and tomatoes Lilian chopped. Letting it fry and simmer for a minute. Adding a little salt and seasoning cube. Finally I added my pasta little by little mixing it with the tomatoes sauced vegetables, after it was properly mixed I added a little water and covered it to simmer.

I wasn’t even done and my kitchen was scenting so nice, finally my pasta was ready I turned off the gas, letting it cool for a while ,Lilian had already laid down our plates , i picked it up and served into our plates, leaving the kitchen I followed her into her room and we both ate our meal silently.

"She told my dad"

"Huh" I asked her to confirm if I had heard her talking while chewing on my meal

"Miss Lauretta called my dad, she told him about the fight"

"What? But he won't do anything would he?"

"Don't know, I know he's not gonna react much but thanks to my step mom who's always making matters worse she's gonna make it bad" she sighed, almost teary up "And we both got disqualified from the trip" she added

"No she didn't" When i saw the bored expression Lilian gave me, i knew she wasn't joking "Are you serious?"

"As a monk girl, so its just you alone and the others that would go for the trip"

"Oh no! Our plan."

"Yeah all gone to the drain thanks to Rita and Juliana"

"I am not going. It’s not going to be fun without you, why call it a trip"

"Yes you are jen, its your trip and it will give you more credits to your GPA you need this more than anything and you know that "

"It’s our trip, don't forget we are in this together " I corrected her "They are surely other ways I could get more credits to my GPA" I don’t have a bad score anyways even if I miss the trip I my results would still be fine

I didn’t feel like going any longer since she was disqualified Not even my crush on Christopher could stop me from not going

"Babe!" She yelled at me with watery eyes

"What?" I asked her dropping my fork on the table

"Thank you so much" she said sadly.

Gosh she looked so vulnerable right now. I quickly stood up to hug her, she was sobbing badly

"Hush girl, don't cry you are my hero you know that right?" Soon I found myself crying with her.

"Yes I am but you know some times, all this is just too much to get in"

I know she was not referring about the disqualification.

"Yes I know, that's why you have to stay strong, you know we are in this together"

"Yes I know" she sniffled dabbing her eyes and then cleaning her nose with her napkin. "Why am I crying?" She asked laughing.

My girl is back

"You should ask you"

She laughed pushing herself away from me "I am going to teach that girl called Rita a very big lesson and Juliana she should just pray to God she doesn't cross paths with me"

I smiled at her

"And you know what dear, f**k that damn trip, f**k Miss Lauretta, f**k all my haters. We are gonna have great fun with or without the trip"

"Yeah!" I cheered her

"They should better watch their backs because when I come, am gonna hit them hard" she warned, grinning dangerously

"And also babe did you just admit yourself in having feelings for Christopher?"

No.. Damn! I couldn't have said that out loud.

"NO!. I mean why would I have feelings on Chris, I do not like him, I am way off board for him and his distraction I don’t need that!"

"Maybe my emotional ears mistook what you said"

"Yes it did, it sure did" I said confusedly.

I mustn’t have said it out loud or did I ?

I wanted to go get some vegetables from the grocery store down the street since I used the remaining one we had for pasta . On my way out I saw Christopher walking towards my direction, I wanted to hide but I was too stiff to move away.

When he saw me he smiled and called out my name "Jennifer"

Did Christopher just smiled at me? And call my name. Like he remembers who I am? I must be dreaming.

"Hi Christopher, good evening"

"Evening, where are you off to?"

"The grocery store down the street"

"Alone? What about Lilian"

"She's not feeling too well so I decided to go out on my own"

"A girl walking all alone in the campus lodge at night is dangerous, not even the tight security we have around could save you at all time"

"Yeah I know that but today I guess I have to go on my own, I will be fine"

He shows concern for my well being! Oh my!

He nodded, checking his time "Let's go"

"Sorry? Go, as in go with me to the grocery store? »

"Yes we are going to the grocery store together, I don't have all time" he said curtly

My heart raced I couldn't believe I was going to have a walk to the grocery shop with my crush, isn't this so romantic??

"Oh! Thanks"

We both walked to the grocery shop together, he stayed behind me to get what I wanted, if I took two steps he takes one behind me, I try moving forward again and he did same thing behind me. Smiling at myself I started getting more unnecessary stuff Lilian and I didn’t need just so I could feel his presence behind me. When I was reluctantly done we both went to the counter.

After the lady scanned my goods "10 dollars for everything ma’am " she said I as put my vegetables in a bag.

Wow! I brought only five dollars with me.

Now I don’t know how I was going to tell her to remove some of the stuffs I bought. Clinging on my purse with embarrassment while I opened it slowly to bring out some cash to pay for my groceries, just then Christopher stopped me and passed his card to the lady.

"You don't have to do that Christopher let me pay"

He gave me deaf ears and just smiled at me while he put in his pin to complete the payments.

I rolled my eyes with anger and disgust and the lady laughed. "You guys are such a cute couple"

Couples? Really I and Chris do fit in some way. I know he must have rejected it in his head. I am not his class in any sort of way. Thanks for the insult nosy counter lady!!!

After Chris was done with the payment we left the store heading home. We were silent for a while "Thank you" I said appreciating him for what he did for me in there.

"You are welcome Jennifer. It’s nothing"

"Anyways thanks for everything you did" I said. I really felt uneasy I am not used to someone helping with my bills except for my nanny and sometimes Lilian but still I do object her from it most times. Independency was what the society made me practice till it became an habit of mine.

He nodded his head.

We walked to our lodge in silence and finally I arrived at the lobby leading to my room "Okay then goodnight and thanks once again for to night"

"You need to stop thanking me Jennifer it's not like i am the one paying for your scholarship"

I opened my mouth then shut it, I tried saying something again but closed my mouth once again.

Christopher laughed out by my actions, his rich deep throaty voice filling the hall and my ears while I just blushed hard.

"Don't tell me you are finally out of words, by the way congratulations on the Trip"

I smiled after remembering I wasn't going any longer I frowned "Oh! About that I don't think im going for the trip"

He looked at me confusedly "Why?"

"You see my friend got disqualified because of me and I don't think i can go for the trip knowing that my friend is staying behind because of me when she got into a fight to defend me"

He nodded his head understandingly "You don't have to worry about that Jennifer, don't cancel the trip both you and Lilian are going to come because like it or not dear its going to be an adventure that none of us would ever forget" he winked at me then left.

My heart was beating so loud in different rhythm, with my eyes wide open as i stood still watching him leave.

What just happened ?

And I don't doubt him because once the almighty Christopher had said a word in a blink of an eye its done.

Bravo bravo, Lilian and Jennifer might make it to the trip. The adventure we are all waiting, tripping and yearning for..
