XXXVI: The Fighter (3)

The smiling lieutenant nodded toward the window where Billy and his two companions had positioned themselves for support, and the sergeant returned his gesture by waving his hand.

The huge guy was lying on the ground, his huge figure was not shrinking, and his body was crashing into one of the cars in that place.

Karen and the soldiers on the ground pointed at the guy with caution as they slowly approached him.

At that moment, the man opened his eyes and, taking the car next to him with one hand, and threw it in the direction of the soldiers.

Karen turned on her back to escape the attack, and two soldiers followed suit but the rest of them were not so lucky. The car fell on three of the soldiers in the platoon, killing them instantly.

The giant intruder was about to attack Karen, but from the building, several rifle shots flew in his direction. The guy covered his face and, taking another car from the vicinity, threw it towards the building.

Billy, concentrating on the combat, took his two subordinates by their uniforms, and with them, he threw himself into the void, watching how the car penetrated the dormitory building and left a huge gap on the second floor.

The giant attacked Karen again without hesitation, the soldier fired all the rest of the magazine that was left targeting the man’s body, but nothing seemed to stop him. When he was about to catch her, the girl disappeared before his eyes.

The subject lost his balance and fell facedown to the ground when the young woman appeared where Billy was and helped him up while she told him.

“Give me all your grenades...”

The young man looked at the young woman with wide eyes. She put emphasis on her hands, he gave them up to her, and the girl disappeared once more. The soldier was stunned like the others present.

The intruder looked in all directions at the sound of bullets sounded in the air, but the battle in this place had turned one on one.

Jack tried to find the invisible Karen, but she gave no sign of her location.

“Where are you damn slut!?”

Jack looked in all directions trying to guess where the girl would be, his eyes were deceiving him, but suddenly he felt a strange touch in the strap of his pants and making a movement with his hand he shook it in front of him, making contact with Karen who suddenly appeared flying through the air from the blow.

Karen crashed into the roof of a car that was overturned on its side and fell to the ground feeling terrible pain in her rib, and the young woman spat out some blood as the giant who was approaching her said, “You should have run with that stupid power!”

To which the lieutenant responded by holding her weapon and pointing it at her enemy’s knee.

“Run for what? I won.”

And firing twice, she made the man kneel only for a huge explosion to take place in his pants. The force of the explosion was such that Jack rose into the air several meters and landed hard on the ground.

Karen was smiling from where she was, and her enemy was on the ground smoking and unconscious, slowly returning to the size of a normal human being.

The young woman got up as best she could and began to walk towards the intruder holding her gun in her hand.

“You get this for attacking us...” She said while looking at her defeated enemy cautiously.

After that, she turned in Billy’s direction and said, “We need to find something to hold him and know where is...”

But that sentence could not finish because she felt her body paralyze. The girl made great force to move, but she only managed to make her muscles tremble. Walking calmly across the parking lot was Jack’s partner with both hands in the air.

Karen’s soldiers tried to shoot the young woman but, she, waving one of her arms, made them all shoot out and land in pain away from her.

The young woman observed the disaster around her and looked at how her partner, still unconscious, was on the ground.

Karen kept trying to move, but the girl from one of the Jeeps that her partner had destroyed took a long metal rod with a sharp tip, all with one hand so she could keep control over Karen with the other.

The young soldier could now try to move a little more since the control had lost strength, but it was still not enough to release herself completely.

The young woman raised the steel bar in the air, prepared to eliminate Karen. The girl looked at her and said, “I must admit that you are more interesting than what he said, but you must still die.”

And with those words, she threw the bar at high speed against the young woman, she became invisible in one last attempt, and when she succeeded, her enemy lost all control over her. Karen dropped to the ground dodging the bar just in time.

The pain did not let her maintain invisibility, but before her enemy could paralyze her again, she took her weapon and pointed her, fired several times, but all her attempts collided with the invisible wall that the girl placed.

Karen’s soldiers who were back in action also took the attack and began firing at the young woman. Karen, in pain, took a deep breath and became invisible again. She ran around the line of attack that her companions made against the hostile girl and, flanking her perfectly, shot.

The bullet hit the girl in the leg, and she fell flat on the ground. The young woman wanted to use her power, but the pain in her leg did not allow her to breathe easily.

Karen pointed the girl straight at her face and asked, “What are you doing here?”

The girl was breathing with difficulty because of the bullet that she had in her leg, but Karen did not stop.

She moved a little closer and said, “I asked you a damn question! Answer me now!”

The girl looked at her, and out of nowhere, Billy’s body flew from where he was until he fell at Karen’s feet. Karen looked at him and was distracted, and then she looked up to where her platoon was and saw how all of them were scattered on the ground under the attacks of Jack, who was on his feet again.

Next to that giant man were Hanibal King and a guy with a suit and black hair that Karen had not seen on security cameras. Hanibal was smiling at her increasing the anger in her veins.

The weapon that Karen was holding in her hands flew out in front of her, dislodging from her grasp. The young woman turned her gaze and saw how the girl on the ground held her weapon.

She had winged her with her powers, and now he would shoot her. Karen flinched and closed her eyes to take the incoming impacts, but instead, she felt two strong arms around her.

The young woman heard the detonations, but she did not feel the shots. When she opened her eyes, she saw how Billy held onto her shoulders and received all the shots that the gun still had.

The girl from the ground, when she finished her bullets, used her power to raise them both in the air and make them fall much further from her.

The blow was tremendous, and Billy’s body fell on her, bathing her in her blood. The girl below the soldier saw him and heard him say.

“You must go. You will not win this one. Go, boss.”

The girl tried to say something, but the soldier covered her mouth with his bloody hand.

Karen’s face wrapped in a panic now had the blood of her subordinate on it.

The girl started crying when the soldier added, “No time for that, boss! There are people to save. Go away!”

And with those words, Karen reacted and, becoming invisible, began to move away from her.

Hanibal walked over to where his prey had landed and saw only the body of the dying soldier.

The blond young man smiled and asked, “Your boss left you, doesn’t that hurt?”

Billy was finding it difficult to breathe. In his mouth, his blood tasted like iron and salt. He looked at Hanibal and smiled with the last of his strength.

He asked, “Envious because nobody would die for you bastard?”

Hanibal lost his smile for a second and watched as life slipped out of a grinning Billy. He took a deep breath to let go of the anger that the soldier’s comment had caused, and he said to himself.

“You are quite a fighter, Karen...”

The girl ran and tried to call the Deer, “Deer, they’re here!! He is here!!”

But the call was cut off. The girl walked with all the energy she had left until she reached building C, where Nicol was.

The young woman saw her lieutenant, and with the help of other officers, they put her on the bus. Nicol gave the order to leave, and when she saw Karen, she asked worried, “Boss, are you ok!!?”

Karen was crying silently, her injuries were considerably strong, but the sound of chaos and destruction that she heard was worse. At full speed, they left the complex because the fight was already lost.

They had won.
