The young woman continued with her gaze fixed on the road, and without looking at him, she told him.
“Only us. After the attack on the security headquarters, I decided not to trust anyone again. Much less report my movements to my superiors. It is obvious that there is an information leak, but I do not know where it is.”
The smiling Deer nodded and, looking at his phone, spoke into the communicator from his ear.
“All ready for the dive?”
All answered affirmatively and received the missing instructions carefully. Ten minutes later, the youngster was in a building near a warehouse in the industrial area of the city.
The warehouse was huge, and it seemed that its main function was to keep the trucks that transported the agricultural materials to the different places in the city. The boys watched that place from a distance.
“Is this the place where they held you captive, Deer?” Simon asked.
Slevin replied expressionlessly, “No, it is not.”
“We must be sure that Hanibal is there. Otherwise, this attack would not make sense,” Troy said, observing the cellar with binoculars.
Simon took a step forward and, smiling, said, “That is not a problem. I got this.”
After activating his power, his eyes glowed blue, and his observation capacity increased, the man could clearly see the interior of the cellar, and he counted the hostiles that were in it.
He looked carefully and said, “There are a total of 5 people inside the place, and I identify all of them from the encounters we have had with them already.”
“Can you see them clearly, Simon?” Karen asked, looking at the boy.
He replied, “I see their body heat, and I can also calculate his weight and height from this distance without problems due to my powers. I’m sure Hanibal is on the premises. That and the smell that Johan detected.”
The Deer took a step forward and looked at the perimeter in that place, and nothing seemed to move. He put his hand on Simon’s shoulder and said, “Check the perimeter. See if this guy has lookouts or something around.”
Simon began to perform the task that Slevin had given him, but he could not identify anything.
With his ability to see through concrete structures and his ability to search for body heat, he still did not identify anything.
“Negative, I don’t see any more hostiles in the surroundings.”
The Deer put his hand on his chin.
When Troy saw him, he asked, “Does that seem logical to you?”
“Not at all. Hanibal is not so careless. There is something very strange.”
“What do we do?” Karen asked while looking at the Deer with a frown. “Shall we stop the attack?”
The Deer looked at his team and firmly said, “Stopping the attack is not an option. Having Hanibal in a place like this without him knowing our move is not an advantage that we will have again. I think we should attack, and if this turns out to be a trap, then we will deal with it for the best way.”
“What’s the plan?”
The Deer observed the situation calmly and said, “Well, we’ll do this. Troy, with your skill, you can check the adjacent buildings. See if there are more people that, for some reason, we cannot see.”
“Of course.”
“After you do, go to the building that is in front of the side entrance, there you will meet with Karen and me. That is where we will enter.”
“Understood.”
And with those words, Troy disappeared.
“Well, Trixie Jerome and Johan, you will be the main force, you will enter the main door with force try to defeat as many as you can with one blow, we will cut on the side so we will take the numerical advantage. Simon, from here and with the rifle, you will cover everyone. You are the eyes in the sky.”
Everyone nodded in approval of the plan, and Karen and Slevin moved. Both arrived at the meeting place, and Troy was waiting for them at that place.
When he saw them, he smiled and asked, “What took you so long?”
When all were in position, the Deer gave the signal.
Inside the Warehouse, Hanibal sat at what looked like a desk on the second floor. From the office, he could see the entire entrance of that warehouse adorned by huge boxes and several work tables on the main floor. There were most of his men, with the exception of Steven, who was with him in the office.
The boy looked at his men and questioned, “Do you think he died?”
“The Deer?”
“Yes.”
“Well, you didn’t leave many openings to survive. You did well, and I don’t think I could get out of that.”
“It’s a shame that he died that way, don’t you think?”
“Not really,” Steven said with total honesty. “That guy is extremely dangerous. If he was alive, he would undoubtedly be a problem. You know that Johan can find you now that Rudy is gone, right?”
“Yes, I know. We must move constantly. I suppose they will wait a couple of days to regroup after the death of the Deer. Tomorrow we will leave the city first thing in the morning, and we have to put some distance.”
“It seems to me that you do not take them very seriously. You know that Simon and Troy are with them. It is not like they are not capable.”
“They are,” Hanibal said, looking at the ceiling from his chair, “but they already had their chance, and they failed. Without the Deer, there is not much emotion.”
“And what if they bring someone else?”
“He deserved a better death.”
Steven looked at his partner, his gaze was lost on the ceiling of that office, and his thoughts flew to places that no one could follow.
Steven took a deep breath and said carefully, “We can’t do anything about that now, Hanibal.”
After he said that, he got up to open the door of the office that had a phone ringing. He asked, “Hanibal, have you thought about what will we do when the war breaks out?”
“I already told you, Steven, we will use the money they will give us, and we will leave this country.”
Steven opened the door, and Carolina came in with two cups of coffee. She gave one to Steven, and the other left it on the table. The girl looked at the doctor and, smiling, left the office. But she stopped behind the door to see what she could hear from that conversation.
“That doesn’t sound like you,” Steven said, taking his coffee. “Money, run away, those are not your ideas Hanibal, I don’t know when I talk to you and when he is speaking for you.”
“I didn’t make friends either. That’s what I’m really running from, him. I will make the land between him and us, and when I recover, he will be the first bastard to liquidate.”
“But this country will no longer exist, Hanibal. By the time you put a bullet in his head, the war will have wiped out all of our friends.”
“I only have one old friend. And he is right in front of me.”
The young blonde’s smile widened, and his hand reached out to shake Steven’s, but when their hands touched the front door, he unhooked itself from its hinges and flew into the cellar.
At the entrance were a beautiful young woman with her hand in front and a smile from ear to ear. Next to her was Johan and Jerome, who looked at each other and murmured among themselves.
“That door weighs like 100 kilos...” Johan said.
“That’s nothing,” Simón said through the receiver. “I’ve seen her lift a car.”
The smiling young woman replied while everyone inside was stunned, “That’s nothing to me. Very good guys, this time I’ll be the one to face you.”
And with those words, the young woman charged towards them. From inside the cellar, Gia smiled, and without saying words, she threw a huge slingshot towards Trixie. The young woman saw it coming and burying her hands in the floor, and she could withstand the impact. Her ears began to tremble, and everything went a bit fuzzy.
“It’s not just strength, darling!” Gia yelled, walking towards them.
Jerome prepared to throw his electricity on her, but from the second floor, the young Carolina began to take control over him.
A bullet pierced the girl’s chest, making her fall to the ground, and Jerome, feeling free from her, threw a strong beam in the direction of Gia. But this was interrupted by a desk that bolted in the direction of the young man.
Jerome managed to evade him, but Jack, much bigger than a normal human, was charging at him. On the second floor of the warehouse, Carolina’s body was bleeding. Steven came to her, and with speed, he healed her wound.
The girl looked at her chest and said, “Almost dead….”
To which Steven, who was lying on the ground, responded, “But it’s not your turn today!”
