The car was moving fast through the streets of the city, a while ago the truck had moved away from the caravan that worked as a decoy, inside it was the assistant and the Chancellor of Jericho talking about the meeting they were about to have. In the passenger seat Karen put her communicator to her ear and said, “All teams alert, we are entering the perimeter, the Chancellor is in the flagship car.” After her words, Karen heard a chuckle coming from the back seat of the car. The girl watched in the mirror as the Chancellor looked at her. The Lieutenant asked, “Everything in order, Chancellor?” “Yes, darling, but I am impressed by the seriousness with which you take everything.” “With all due respect, Chancellor, it seems to me that you do not give it the seriousness necessary.” The assistant was looking into the soldier’s eyes with determination when he said, “Young man, this situation is not new for us. In each country, we visit we go through something similar.” “I’m sorry, Mr...” “Albert is fine.” “I’m sorry, Albert, but I highly doubt that this situation has already happened to you.” “Everyone says that,” Elizabeth added naturally. “And it’s always the same situation, some crazy maniac who wants to be famous...” At that moment, a thunderous shot was heard, and a figure approaching the car received a direct hit in the face. The car overturned as the body of the gunman collided with the side of it. Karen tapped the communicator in her ear and demanded in urgency, “Attention, what was that!!?” For a second, there was no response, and an image of her dead soldiers appeared in Karen’s eyes. But immediately, a metallic voice answered.” “Hostile neutralized. I don’t know where he came from, but he was armed.” Karen looked out the window at the body of the man on the ground with a sub-machine gun in hand. “Perimeter report how that subject got here?” And the voice that rang in the Lieutenant’s ears was that of Simon says. “Karen, the subject appeared, as if by magic...” When the young woman heard this, she turned her eyes once to look for the hostile, but she could only see the weapon on the ground. “They’re here!” On the roof, the Deer received the message and observed all the possible entry routes, but everything was perfectly covered. The teams constantly reported their status to avoid surprises like the one that had just happened in the square. Simon was following the flagship car with his rifle for protection when he parked in front of the hotel entrance. “Everyone ready. The objective will go out now. Let’s keep the protocol for shooters attentive. Chancellor, I’ll need you to get on character, please.” Outside the flagship car, three men held umbrellas up, these were reinforced to prevent any sniper attack, and when the doors of the flagship car were opened, they protected the diplomats. Both the Chancellor and her assistant entered the hotel. The young woman carried papers and folders in her arms and walked slowly behind her assistant. This kept the focus on him and gave the impression that he was the man of authority. They all entered the lobby together, and Karen stood close to the Chancellor a few steps from her assistant while her men who were guarding the lobby welcomed her. “Deer. Position two, we are already going up.” Hearing this, Slevin prepared to leave the roof. He wondered what Hanibal’s course of action would be like. “Simon, scan the building for hostiles.” “Understood!” And after those words, he began to use his powers to look inside the building looking for different possible threats, but while he looked at all the floors, suddenly, his power was deactivated. “Deer!” Simon called out, more worried than he wanted to sound, “My eyes are useless...” All the soldiers heard that statement, and their confusion rose to nothingness, but Slevin knew what he meant. He turned his face away and looked in the direction of the building that covered the hotel. “Look at your feet, is there any mist?” Slevin asked with a frown. Simon removed his eye from the peephole and looked at the floor where a small thin mist bathed the whole place. “Affirmative Deer, we have fog.” “Karen!” Slevin said with grave tone, “The guard building is compromised. Order a sweep in search of hostiles.” Karen, who was waiting for the elevator on the ground floor next to the target, said urgently. “Backup team carry out a security sweep in the guard building, Deer go to point two. I need you with the objective.” Several affirmative statements were heard on the radio, and everyone started moving. Slevin went down the elevator to the tenth floor, which was where the Chancellor would be staying. All the floors of the hotel were guarded by three soldiers, and none had guests except for the tenth floor, where the objectives would be. In that place, there were fifteen soldiers distributed among the rooms, all ready to protect the Chancellor. In the lobby, there were five Soldiers guarding the entrance and several more in the parking lot. It was virtually impossible to enter the building without being seen, especially since in the building in front of the hotel, twenty-five soldiers were distributed between guard posts and snipers to protect the blind spots of the hotel. “Sweep team,” Billy said firmly. “Starting the search for hostile clean floor one, entering floor two. “Sweep team two, Clear roof, entering floor fifteen.” The soldiers searched the guard building for hostiles while the snipers secured their position, Simon tried to turn on his power, but the mist seemed to work as an inhibitor. Opening a safe line with the Slevin and Karen, who were the only ones aware of these abilities. “Deer! If they can remove my power, you won’t have any cover!” Simon said, his expression displeased. To which Karen said, “We’ll have to get by, Deer. Where are you?” “Shifting to position two. I wait for you.” “Attention” A delicate voice rang through the communicators. “Nicole communications here, several attempts to bring down our network have been stopped, and we are definitely under attack.” Karen began to feel the pressure on her back, they had not received a direct attack since the car incident, but everything seemed to be imminent. When the elevator door opened on the tenth floor, the young woman walked in and said, “Chancellor, your room is in that direction. Both yours and that of your assistant are continuous. The young man smiled and started walking in the direction Karen was pointing. As they walked, Karen spoke in whispers towards Slevin, “Status of the panic room?” “Operational, as you left it this morning.” “Perfect! It seems that it will be necessary.” After that, he kept moving forward. The floor had ten huge rooms, of which the two at the back were the largest. They both had large windows that looked out onto a building in front of them where Karen’s various snipers were located. That was not the best view that the hotel could provide, but it was chosen for safety reasons rather than elegance. Although everything in that hotel was easily considered elegant, the checkered carpet showed the path that the guests had to follow and when they reached the end of that corridor. Karen said in a whisper towards them. “Chancellor, your room is number two. That’s the one for you.” The young woman quite naturally said, “I’m sorry, darling, but we can’t tear the paper. We must keep the act giving him the room that belonged to me.” “I’m afraid, Chancellor, that would not be a good idea,” said the young woman in a friendly way and whispering even more. “I have a defense plan prepared for that room in case something happens.” To which the smiling Chancellor replied, “If something were to happen, honey, I will not be the target of the attack, do you understand? We must also protect it.” Karen nodded heavily, she was not entirely convinced with the plan, but certainly, no one knew who the real Chancellor was that could be considered an advantage. When they got to the room, they both entered their rooms and began to wash up. From the outside, Simon guarded the room with caution. They were spacious suites with lots of light and everything a guest could need. The place was so prestigious that any one of these suites was the size of one of the houses in the mines. They had a living room and a bedroom, as well as a considerably large bathroom. “Sweep finished! No sign of hostiles was found.” He informed the team. While the ground where Simon was no longer had mist, Simon’s powers were activated again, and he said, “Everything in order, Deer, the fog is gone.”
