LVII: Flight and Calamity (2)

At Hanibal’s base, two girls were chatting in a lonely corner. Sharon gently took Rudy by the shoulders and said, “You must stop talking to him, that boy is very clever, and he is going to fool you...”

“But...” The young woman replied, somewhat frustrated, “but maybe he’s right, and if we leave now, Hanibal won’t be able to follow us...”

“So what?” Sharon said, raising her voice a little more than she wanted, she tried to control herself, and whispering, she added, “Do you want to be in the sights of that maniac forever?”

The young woman shook her head and looking around. She felt how the walls were closing around her, the air was getting much thinner, and breathing was difficult for her, Sharon in front of her, kept talking, but the young woman could not understand what she was saying.

Suddenly Esteban put a hand on her shoulder from her back and, calming everything down, said, “It’s okay to be scared, but we will protect you...”

The young woman, still disturbed, hugged Esteban tightly. The man was so tall that the young woman’s face was buried in his chest. He stroked her head, looked at his girlfriend to make a worried face.

Sharon observed him calmly and, taking a deep breath, and then asked, “Do you want to get out?”

Esteban nodded while that question made Rudy turn to see her, the two had already made the decision, but without Sharon, they would not carry it out.

The young woman took a deep breath and looking at the ground, and she said, “Voucher. I don’t want to be the cause of war anyway...”

And with those words, Rudy released Esteban to grab her, Sharon hugging the young woman, said, “You were lucky to find us here, girl, think in the future before getting into these problems...”

“Just stay with me and help me decide...” The young woman said with a smile, and a lump formed in Sharon’s throat.

The girl looked at Esteban, and he asked with a calm face, “What’s the plan?”

In the Deer’s cell, everything was calm. The young man breathed and drew in his mind all the possible escape plans, but Hanibal was very intelligent, there were no guards watching him, and no one would try to help him if he pretended to hurt himself.

The chances were slim, but he managed to reduce his plan to being helped by Rudy, who seemed to either admire him or escape at the time of the exchange.

At that moment, the door of her cell opened, Sharon entered quickly, and the Deer tried to say something, but a finger on the girl’s lips told her to keep quiet. With her claws, the girl destroyed the Deer’s handcuffs and helped him get up to escape.

The Deer did not quite understand what was happening, but he followed the young woman out of the cell. Sharon kept telling him to be quiet as together they wandered through the dark corridors of this strange place.

The Deer sharpened his senses to try to anticipate any situation when Sharon opened a door, and they entered a room where Rudy and Esteban were waiting for them.

As Esteban entered, he hugged his girl while Rudy watched the smiling Deer with emotion. He approached the young woman and, placing a hand on her shoulder, said, “Thank you, and I won’t forget...”

A huge smile spread across Rudy’s eyes. The Deer was only four years older than that young woman, but still, he gave the impression of being much older.

The hand she had on the girl’s shoulder was struck calmly by Sharon, who said as she looked at the Deer sternly.

“Stop manipulating her. It’s time to go….”

The Deer smiled, and nodding, said, “I should use this opportunity to assassinate Hanibal...”

They all looked at him and with a look of perplexity. They looked at each other, and the Deer understood that the idea was not approved, and nodding, and then he said, “I understand. Let’s get out of here...”

They all walked firmly through the corridors, trying to avoid the common areas where some of Hanibal’s men would probably be, they walked slowly towards the exit that Esteban had prepared, but at that moment, the Deer felt an enormous force lifting him off the ground and placing him on the ceiling really hard.

Almost instantly, the entire corridor was filled with mist at the feet of those present, and Slevin was released, falling nimbly on his feet. Carolina, who now walked with ease towards the young people, asked, “Rudy darling, stop doing stupid things, will you?”

Esteban took out his weapon and pointed in the direction of Carolina, who immediately raised her hands and smiling said, “That’s stupid, honey...”

“I don’t see how... Honey...”

Esteban said, pointing firmly to the young woman’s chest, but she kept her smile firm. Suddenly the Deer turned on his ankles to face Esteban.

He saw the young man rushing towards them and taking Sharon and Rudy, who continued to emit her mist and with force pushed the three of them out of the way.

Just as they fell, a black figure flew over them, narrowly missing its target. Right next to Carolina, a black silhouette landed turned instantly, and the Deer saw one android identical to the one that attacked the Chancellor in the hotel.

At that moment, all the lights in the complex came on suddenly, and Hanibal’s voice was heard through the headphones with total clarity.

“This you have done, friends, was a mistake!”

At that moment, on the other side of the corridor, Jack and Gia appeared, covering the exit. Carolina, flanked by the robot, covered the other side, and Hanibal’s voice echoed from the walls of that corridor.

“Deer, who said you could go?”

The youngsters got up. Rudy trembled at the situation while Sharon cursed her fate.

“s**t!! s**t!! s**t!!” The young woman said as she panicked while trying to find a way out. “I knew this was a terrible idea...”

Esteban pointed his gun at Jack, who was beginning to grow and slowly approaching.

He looked at Rudy and said, “Do your thing, girl!”

“No!!” Sharon shouted with haste, “If she does it too, we will be defenseless.”

The Deer stopped time, and I observed the predicament that held them back. He considered everything, and when releasing time, he said, “Use your skill!”

“No!” Sharon refused loudly. “You do not understand without powers, and there is not much we can do...”

“I understand,” the Deer added seriously, “But the situation will be worse for them, and I do not need powers to fight with the robot. The others will be useless without their gifts...”

The girl considered it a second, and that was enough for the robot to pounce on her in a faster movement than the young woman could anticipate. The Deer intersected the attack of the robot to be dragged by the force of it.

The robot lifted the Deer off the ground, and they both rose down the corridor. As they passed by Esteban’s side, the robot kicked his hand with force, making him drop the revolver.

The Robot and the Deer fell to the ground, and the mercenary tried to immobilize the machine using his hands and legs as hooks, but the power of the robot was such that it released each hook that the Deer made instantly.

Esteban screamed from the pain in his hand when his revolver fell to the ground. Sharon looked at him and, without thinking twice, shouted.

“Rudy, do not use the power and Close your eyes! Esteban, Calamity!”

The confused little redhead saw how Sharon got into the starting position, and before Carolina could raise her hand, she had already bridged that distance and had made a large cut on her arm.

Carolina fell to the ground, and from there, she screamed as she, with her power, pressed Sharon’s body against the wall.

“Damn, you will pay for this!!”

Sharon could not move, her body was embedded with force in the wall, but on her lips, there was a smile that Carolina could not understand.

When she looked into her eyes, she saw how the young woman was watching her boyfriend, who she was screaming with strength, “Calamity!

The Deer heard the cry and looked at Esteban like everyone else. Jack, Gia, and Carolina both watched the boy when he squeezed the fracture in his arm with all his might.

The pain rose to his mind in an instant, it was so intense that his knees gave way, and he had to kneel, his eyes filled with tears as Rudy clasped her arms and closed her eyes, the man let out such a scream that it filled the entire hall.
