" News spreads that Adrian's nanny is getting " too close". Gossip threatens Ava's reputation and Adrian's business image. He pulls away, breaking Ava's heart. She considers leaving even though the twins beg her to stay". The next week at the Cole mansion began like any other - breakfast with the twins, lessons in the study and laughter in the garden. But beneath the calm surface, a storm of a different kind was brewing. Adrian had returned to the city for business meetings, leaving Ava to care for the children. When he came home late one night, his expression was colder than usual. " Is something wrong?" Ava asked softly as he walked past her in the hall. He stopped. " I had an interesting conversation today", he said, voice controlled. " Apparently, my employees believes the nanny is doing more than caring for my children". Ava froze. " What do you mean?". " People are talking", he continued. " They said that I'm distracted. That you're the reason". Ava's stomach twisted. " That's not fair - I've done nothing wrong". " I know", Adrian said, looking away. " But in my world, perception matters. Investors watch everything I do". " So you want me to quit?" she asked. His jaw tightened. " I'm saying maybe it's better if we keep things strictly professional". Ava nodded slowly, the words cutting deeper than she expected. " Understood, Mr. Cole". He opened his mouth to say something more - but she'd already left. That night, Ava lay awake, staring at the ceiling. The mansion that once felt warm now seemed cold again. she thought about leave - about finding another job, another life - but every time she pictured Emma and Ethan's faces, her heart ached. In the morning, the twins sensed something had changed. Adrian barely spoke at breakfast, and Ava smiled only for their sake. When the children ran off to play, Ava stood " I think it's best if I start looking for another job", she said. Adrian's hand stilled in his coffee cup, " You don't have to do that". " I think I do", she said. " This house needs peace, not whispers". He looked up then - truly looked at her - and for a second, the mask he always wore slipped. There was regret in his eyes maybe even pain. But he said nothing. So Ava turned, gathered her courage and walked away - even though leaving might break her heart more than staying ever could.
