Chapter Eleven

Felix POV I noticed Harold's stern face. He was serious about providing Elizabeth's innocence, but I did not care as much for who was right or wrong, however, that did not mean I was going to carry out my task with neglegence. I had the motivation to finally prove Harold wrong for once. I sometimes felt Alpha King Augustus was more fond of him than he was of me. There were times I didn't care but there were other times the realization of how small my significance was in the sight of my Lord made me spiral into sorrow. Although I wasn't so clouded by my feelings so much that i hated Harold. In fact, Harold was more of a family member to me than an ordinary comrade, and as such, there was no room in my heart for jealous to creep through. I cast a look at Harold. I was curious about what was going through his mind. He was unusually quiet which was a lot to say about him. He was rather reserved around other people but that wasn't the case when we were together. I remember one time when we were infiltrating an enemy wolf pack but I blew our cover because he told a ridiculous joke. That was how free Harold was when he was with me. To be honest, I found his silence quite annoying. "What do you hope to achieve during this mission?" I asked. I wanted to know his thoughts. He sighed. I felt he already knew what he wanted to say but he was trying to pick the right words to say. That was extremely unusual. "I merely wish to get to the root of this matter" He replied plainly. From my facial expression, it was obvious he thought I wanted him to say something more but if that was all he could say at that moment, I was okay with it. I couldn't wait for this mission to be over so things would go back to normal. I turned on my wolf senses to find out Elizabeth's whereabouts. I found her walking casually in the hallway not too far from where I was located. After I was very sure if where Elizabeth was, I took one more look at Harold then departed to find my target. I found Elizabeth still walking in the hallway. I wondered where she was headed to. I knew it was unlikely but I knew I had to conceal my presence to avoid her finding out she was being followed. That would be quite unfortunate if that were to happen. I watched as Elizabeth entered the palace kitchen. I hid as I wandered what she was going to do next. After a few seconds of changing into cooking clothes, which I had to turn away, She started to prepare something to eat on the stove. In a matter of minutes, the entire kitchen was filled with a sweet swelling aroma dispelling from her food. I was impressed with her cooking skills. While i watched from where I hid, being carried into a trace by her food smell, I saw her face beam with a smile when she looked at Harold's wife entering the kitchen. I instantly became curious as to what their relationship was. A little part of me feared Harold's wife was a part of Elizabeth's scheme to become Alpha King Augustus' bride. I would need to report to Harold immediately. "I see you got here rather late, what happened?" Harold's wife asked. Elizabeth snickered. She blank face was lighted up in happiness. "Me? Late? Don't be silly. I got here before you" Elizabeth argued. "I'll have you know, young lady, I have been here for sometime and I stepped out to get ingredients" Harold's wife explained. I was a bit shocked at how happy both women looked talking to each other. It brought so much warmth to my heart that I almost forgot my task. I was beginning to feel bad for suspecting her for any sort of foul play. If Harold was present in the room, I was sure he would give me a very stern look. I laughed quietly, running a simulation of that senario in my head. I was so distracted that I didn't notice Harold's wife looking directly at me. She had a confused look on her face and I quickly and quietly used code to tell her to shut up about me being in the kitchen when them. Fortunately, she understood and gave Elizabeth a beaming smile. "What happened? You were gone for awhile" Harold's wife asked. This was her clever way of getting information out of Elizabeth. Smart, I agreed. "My mother and sister came to the palace" Elizabeth replied. I was shocked. I didn't know Tabitha Rodriguez was among the people that sought presence with Alpha King Augustus. "I thought Alma ran away with her boyfriend?" Harold's wife asked. "She did. I was very surprised when I saw her today" Elizabeth replied. Harold's wife shot a look at me. "Are you sure she really ran away?" She asked again. "Maybe you thought she did but....." Harold's wife was trying to make her confess if she was really telling the truth or has been lying since she became Alpha King Augustus' bride. "She eloped. I'm sure of it. Alma has always been been self-centered. She knew the consequences of her actions but she still chose to leave. There is no reason why I would want to be Alpha King Augustus'bride. Yes, he is a great ruler and a mighty king but he is not the man I am in love with" Elizabeth said. "Be careful my dear of the words you speak. The walls have ears" Harold's wife looked at me. once again. "If you say you did not lie, then I believe you." Elizabeth smiled. She was happy. I wanted to believe her words desperately but it was not as easy as it would seem. She could still be a liar and look innocent. I needed to dig in deeper and find out if she was really telling the truth or lying to the faces of everyone.
