Chapter Ten

1005 Words
Harold's POV As I left the Alpha King's throne room, I had only the order given to me by my master placed in my mind. I stood firm to my belief that Elizabeth was innocent and I was determined to bring Alma into the light, exposing her for the evil she stands for. I glanced at Felix with his firm face. He was possibly thinking of how he would carry out his orders perfectly, bringing about much desirable results that could probably be the end of Elizabeth and her stay in the kingdom. I had spent a considerable amount of time studying Elizabeth each time I managed to get a glimpse of her and my observation is that she is a kind soul, a rare breed of good people who are not seen especially among a strong pack of wolves whose main goals is to survive. I shook my head. Alpha King Augustus'condition would be much more better off if he had listened to me iland chosen the Luna of a strong wolfpack but he was blinded by Alma's beauty. However, I knew he wasn't to blame, Alma was an exceptional beauty but she still could not be compared to Elizabeth. "What do you hope to achieve during this mission?" Felix asked. I sighed. I already knew what I wanted but I also took caution to sound as neutral as possible. "I merely wish to get to the root of this matter" I replied plainly. From his facial expression, it was obvious Felix wanted me to say something more but that was all I could say at that moment. I was sure Felix felt the same way about Elizabeth. The reason for his suspicion was because of what he had experienced during wars and battles; allys betraying each other for selfish desires. Felix was a strong wolf and I chose to trust him as I watched he leave the hallway to carry out his assignment. Now left alone, I made my way to the Alpha King Augustus'study where Alma was probably still sitted. My plan was to be as quiet as a ghost without being caught even though Alma was a fierce wolf who could sense any sign of danger. I closed my eyes as I calmly cleared my aura of any impurities then opened my eyes feeling completely free. The scent of another unfamiliar wolf nereby made me alert. I could sense that Alma was present in the room but there was another person with her. I wasn't certain who it was. I got closer to the door of the study and found a good hiding spot when I could be able to monitor everything that was happening without being seen. All I could hear were whispers. I wanted to hear much clearer so I activated my wolf ears. Unfortunately, There was a pause in their conversation; something was wrong. I heard the door open and I saw Alma leave with a woman. Their resemblance was uncanny so it was safe to conclude the woman was her mother. I proceeded to turn my ears back to normal but i chose not to; they could come in handy during my mission. I came out of my hiding spot and continued to follow Alma. I made it out of the palace compound without being found out by Alma, my target, and her mother. They were headed towards the town market to pick up things they planned to use to prepare dinner. That seemed rather normal to me. I saw Alma's mouth beginning to open in order to start a conversation. I listened attentively. "When do you think we should carry out our plans?" Alma asked. Plans?? I was confused. What were they planning and does it involve anything that has to do with the case of her stating she had been kidn*pped by her stepsister? All these questions kept on flooding my head. "I suggest we begin by 6pm" Tabitha Rodriguez replied. I sensed danger. What evil were they planning to put into action at such a time? I was left with more questions as my companions. "I agree, I'm sure if I start by that time, I would be done with dinner by the next hour" Alma said. I was left short of words. They were mainly planning the time to cook dinner. To be honest, I felt quite a bit disappointed. I thought I had caught Alma red handed, however, I wasn't even close. I continued my mission and followed them move all over the market, going from stall to stall picking out ingredients for the meal they were planning to cook. It was vexing. It was as if I was with my wife when she planned trips to the market. I couldn't stand their roundabout movements. Their indecisiveness irked me so much but I had no choice, my orders to follow Alma were given to me by my supreme leader who I could never defy no matter how annoying the task I was given is. "Mother, why don't you go home, you look tired" Alma said with concern written all over her beautiful face. I was a bit stunned at her show if concern. For a moment, she looked very genuine. Are you studied Tabitha Rodriguez, wondering what her next to course of action was going to be. It was initially obvious she did not want to leave her daughter alone but when am Alma placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, she nodded her head and need a way out of the marketplace. For a moment I was relieved that I had to focus all of my attention on just one person at a time, however everything changed when I noticed Alma turned her head to look back at what I perceived to be me. I was convinced she had discover my location. I was convinced she had found out that I have been following her since she left the palace. For unknown reasons I began to sweat; I had been caught.
