Chapter 15- Flashback

224 Words
The sun bathed the city in a warm glow as Élise and Luca strolled through the cobblestone streets of Milan. The aroma of freshly baked bread wafted from nearby cafes, mingling with the scent of blooming flowers from the market stalls. "Let's get lost," Luca suggested, a playful glint in his eyes. Élise laughed, "I thought we already were." They wandered aimlessly, discovering hidden courtyards adorned with ivy-covered walls and fountains that whispered tales of old. Street musicians played melodies that seemed to narrate their journey, each note resonating with the rhythm of their hearts. In a quaint café tucked away from the bustling streets, they found solace. Over cups of rich espresso and delicate pastries, they shared stories, dreams, and silent gazes that spoke volumes. As the day faded into evening, they sat on a bench overlooking the city, the skyline painted with hues of orange and pink. "Promise me something," Élise whispered. "Anything," Luca replied, his gaze fixed on the horizon. "That we'll always remember this day, no matter where life takes us." He took her hand, pressing it gently to his lips. "Always." Back in her apartment, Élise smiled through tears, the memory a bittersweet balm to her aching heart. Love, she realized, wasn't confined to presence; it thrived in memories, in letters unsent, and in the silent spaces between moments.
