Chapter 2

1339 Words
Sofia "Who are you? You are not from the town." The scary, tall man standing before me grunts, throwing the question in my face without giving me any time to collect my thoughts and contain my surprise. "I-I." I stutter, unable to continue because of the fear overwhelming my entire being, and then Bill speaks up, drawing their attention to the trouble on the floor. "Boss, this lady here has broken your precious crystal decanter, and doesn't have the money to pay for it!" He cries out, completely washing his hands of the whole situation. Panic shoots up my spine. The tall man with long black hair steps closer. "Is that so? It was chosen by me." He grunts despite smiling. "I was placing an order, and it was kept so close to the edge that by the time I was retracting my hand, it went down with me," I confess everything. All three of them watch me with scrutinising eyes. I didn't expect to jump into another problem after escaping one. "So, you did break it?" The third guy joins, and I hate that I have to nod and accept the guillotine. "Do you have the money to compensate?" The first guy asks, and I seem to be getting dizzy from staring back and forth between all of them. I bite my lip and shake my head. Bill scoffs triumphantly. "Exactly, she doesn't, captain, and this lass isn't even moving to clean it up." He remarks distastefully, clicking his tongue. His behaviour rouses sadness inside me, and I turn towards him to inquire about the broom and the mop, but one growl from the man standing closest to me shuts him up. I flinch when his angry voice booms through the pub. "Are you the boss or us, Bill?" Bill trembles, terrified. "Y-You boss." He stutters. "Then who gets to decide what she will do?" He continues. Bill's shoulders stoop, and he extends his hands towards the bikers. "Y-You sir." "Then why are you running your f*****g mouth?" The man growls again, making sure he gets his point across. The long-haired guy grabs him by his nape. "Do not anger the IronClaw club. Did you forget?" He grunts with that sweet expression again, but trust me, there is nothing sweet about it at all. He pushes him away violently, and he hits the back of the counter, crushing the glass shards under his shoes. "Now f*****g scram." He grits out. Bill nods and runs away. "What are you all waiting for?" The third guy yells. "Empty this place right now!" He announces, and everyone who was eating and enjoying the show stands up and hurries out of the building like it's haunted. Now, it's only them and me... Not a very good situation, and not my luckiest day either. I gulp visibly and twist my fingers together, trying my best to rein in my anxiousness. "I asked you a question, little wolf." A nerve ticks in his jaw when he repeats the question. "You aren't from our town. Where are you from?" I can't tell them where I am from....I can never tell anyone who I am, and why I ran away from my home. If I did, I would be sent back to them or worse, get pawned off to dangerous people or places because of my identity. I don't know much about this town as well since it's so far away from my pack. So, I can't come up with any excuse, but I have to answer. I need to be quick. My brain combusts under so much pressure, and I close my eyes tightly, shutting off these dangerous men. "You scared the poor girl, devil. Let her breathe." I hear one of them chuckle, and slowly open my eyes. "What poor girl? She broke your prized decanter, horse." The third one says hoarsely, glaring at me. I flinch at the harshness in his eyes. "I...my name is Sofia." I decide to go with my real name, but hide my surname. "I don't know where I am from. I just remember running away from something, and after that I ended up in this pub. I am sorry, but I don't have any memories before that." I lie through my teeth to avoid the worst. The cold green eyes watching me from the start narrow. "You aren't lying, are you?" I flinch ever so slightly and shake my head. "N-No, I-I am not lying. I really don't remember." My eyes well up with tears, and I hate that I am acting pathetically like this. "It's alright, Devil. This female must be telling the truth." The sweet voice comes up again, urging me to look up. I look away when he smiles at me. "I didn't expect her to cry." The third guy points out, skeptically. I bite my lower lip, and Horse, as they called him, comes to my rescue again. "Are you also trying to interrogate her like devil too, now, Eagle?" "No, not really, but I would like to ask this." He pops his knuckles, its ASMR, making my body rigid. "How do you plan on paying for the damage you caused?" I suck in a sharp breath at his question and start hiccuping. I don't know how I will do that. Just as I was about to have a meltdown, the man with long black hair wraps an arm around my waist and pulls me close. "Shh, calm down, female. Aren't you such a handful?" He grunts in my hair and consoles me by rubbing my back. I get surprised by his sudden touch, but it doesn't feel bad, which is strange because I react strongly to other people's touch because of the abuse, but his hands feel warm. "I-I don't have that much money on me," I mumble out after I have calmed down a little. "Then." Devil's cold voice makes me look at him. "You will have to pay in another way." I gulp and clench my hands, resting on Horse's chest out of dread. "H-How?" A cold smirk tugs onto his lips. "You will have to serve us until your wages are enough to pay off our debt." He rasps sharply, announcing how I will have to become their slave until I pay off that astronomical amount. My face pales, and I stop breathing. "Oh, I like it." Horse, who is still holding me, exclaims, but I have gone numb. How can I appreciate being a slave to these rugged bikers? Who knows what they might do to me? I don't even have my wolf to protect me? Panic shoots up my spine, but the decision has already been taken. There is nothing else that I can offer, and there is no other solution. "But what would a wimp like her do at the club?" Eagle questions, watching me with judgy eyes. I shrink back, tugging on Horse's arm to let me go. But to my utter surprise, he only tightens his hold around me. "There are so many chores she can do." He grins, looking at me. "Don't worry about that." His gaze is hot when he stares deeply into my eyes, but they don't feel insulting, as if he is sizing me up for my body, which is again weird because why do I feel this way with him? "Right, Sophia?" He continues. I nod. "I can clean, cook and even run small errands." I quickly give my qualifications, something I have been doing my whole life back home. His lips spread into a slow smile at my answer, and he steps back. His hand brushes against my lower back as he retraces it. "Welcome to the IronClaw club, Sophia." He declares. "This whole town is run by us, the MC club." Devil grunts out. His disapproving stare sweeps over me dryly. "And now you are our property," Eagle announces, rewriting my fate on the night I believed I escaped from hell only to fall into a deeper one.
